Camelia's first 'Roots' show was originally aired on Sunday 18th of October 2020, listen on the Mixcloud player below. Scientific Sound Asia Radio is the English language station, promoter, and DJ agency for Sri Lanka, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, India, South Korea and globally.

Bicycle Corporation consists of the Italian duo DJ and Producer Marco Mei and the talented Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Since the inception of their project, this Italian pair has released more than 50 original tracks and remixes.

In the early 1990s, Marco embarked on his musical path as a DJ and producer. He then initiated his own House, Afrocentric, and Techno events under the collective name 'Urban People' across Italy.

This brought him fame and secured a residency at the nightclub brand Pacha, resulting in international DJ bookings. In the following years, he embarked on a global musical journey.

Growing up in Torino, Italy, Stefano demonstrated a strong aptitude for music from a young age. He passionately studied classical piano, percussion, and drums, and had a deep appreciation for Chopin's classical compositions as well as the rhythm and sound of West African Djembes.

Yet, the image of the DJ on stage captivated the teenage Stefano increasingly. He pondered whether those elusive electronic beats rarely found on '90s Italian radio, might usher in a new era in his life, leading to the creation of Bicycle Corporation.

Guest DJ Camelia.

This week's guest DJ is Camelia, a rising star in the electronic music scene. Born in the 1990s in western France, Camelia's journey into music took a transformative turn in 2014 when she moved to Montreal. There, she discovered the vibrant world of electronic music, igniting a passion that would shape her artistic path.

Upon returning to France, Camelia dedicated herself to music production, making her debut in 2019 with the Consciousness EP on Undersonic Records. Since then, her career has soared. She is now the official presenter of the weekly Rebirth Radio Show on Ibiza Global Radio and Café Mambo Ibiza, platforms that connect her to audiences worldwide.

Camelia’s artistry is deeply inspired by a rich musical heritage spanning jazz, blues, Detroit house, deep house, and African sounds. This broad spectrum of influences shapes her unique style, which blends soulful grooves with experimental soundscapes. Her live performances have gained her recognition on platforms like Mondonero, where she plays regularly, and at private events for prestigious brands such as Moncler and Sampling Moods. Sampling Moods, an association dedicated to art and culture, provides a perfect backdrop for her fusion of music with creativity and expression.

Her most recent release, Drop the Mask on Rebirth Records, is a testament to her evolving sound. The track captures the essence of NYC deep house, enriched with experimental ambient effects, minimal rhythm percussions, dreamy pads, and ethereal voices that feel otherworldly. It’s a musical journey that demonstrates her ability to craft immersive and emotive music. Camelia has hinted at more releases in the coming months, promising exciting new explorations of her ever-evolving style.

Camelia’s ability to blend influences, experiment with sound, and connect deeply with her audience makes her one of the most promising talents in electronic music today. We are delighted to feature her guest mix this week—sit back and let her music take you on a journey!

Camelia’s Roots Episode 055 masterfully bridges genres, taking listeners through a journey of soulful rhythms, intricate grooves, and cosmic melodies. Tracks like DubbyMan’s "Jazz For May" and Chaos In The CBD’s "Global Erosion" bring a deep and jazzy warmth, perfectly balanced with the afro-percussive energy of Elisa Elisa’s "Drum Love."

Whether it’s the leftfield textures of SIZE S or the soulful harmonies of Fred P’s "Don’t Be Afraid," this episode offers a diverse yet cohesive mix that captivates and uplifts. An ideal soundtrack for introspection, relaxation, or a groove-filled evening.
