Bicycle Corporation has revealed that guest DJ Brendon P (details below) will be featured in their 'Roots' 110 show. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music station, DJ agency, and promoter catering to both the local and international music scenes.
Bicycle Corporation is an Italian duo consisting of DJ and Producer Marco Mei and the talented Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together, they have produced more than 50 original tracks and remixes across the House Music and Techno sub-genres.
In the early nineties, Marco embarked on a transformative musical journey that would shape his future as a DJ and producer. With a passion for electronic music pulsing through his veins, he dedicated himself to honing his craft and perfecting his unique sound.
Driven by his vision and determination, Marco founded 'Urban People,' a crew that would become synonymous with cutting-edge music events and unforgettable experiences. From intimate underground gatherings, 'Urban People' brought together like-minded individuals who shared a love for electronic beats and infectious rhythms.
His talent was acknowledged, resulting in a residency at Pacha in Egypt, which opened the door to international DJ bookings and launched him on a global musical journey.
Stefano was born and raised in Torino, Italy, where he demonstrated a natural talent for music from a young age. He enthusiastically pursued his studies in classical piano, percussion, and drums, showing a particular fondness for Chopin and the West African Djembe.
Nevertheless, the image of the DJ captivating the audience became increasingly fascinating to teenage Stefano. He pondered whether those elusive electronic beats rarely heard on Italian radio stations in the '90s, would lead to a whole new chapter in his life upon meeting Marco and witnessing the evolution of Bicycle Corporation.
Guest DJ Brendon P.
DJ Brendon P, whose real name is Brendon Perera, hails from Singapore and opts for a low-key, lo-fi style in his work. With over four decades of experience, he has been a disc jockey for a considerable amount of time. His journey in the world of Clubs and Music began back in 1980 in the mobile DJ scene in Singapore, transitioning to clubs just a year later.
In 1984, a trip to New York introduced him to the city's club scene, including venues like the Funhouse, the Paradise Garage, Dancetaria, and the Area. This experience immersed him in the music that would later evolve into the house music we know today.
Throughout his DJ career, spanning local and international gigs, he developed a strong affinity and deep appreciation for various genres of dance music, with his main focus now on House, Techno, Disco, Nu Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge, and Electronica.
Having started his career by performing at clubs in the '80s, both locally and internationally, with the Juliana’s and Bacchus groups, followed by residencies with Neo Pharaohs, Venom, and NOX in the '90s, he then spent 9 years as a resident DJ at the world-famous Zouk Club in Singapore.
From July 2001 to May 2009, he held a 2-year residency at Kyo, and for the past five years, he has been part of the resident team at the prestigious CE LA VI Rooftop Club & Skybar at Marina Bay Sands. He remains a prominent figure in the local and international club scene to this day.
Having performed as a DJ in various cities worldwide (such as Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taiwan, Hanoi, and Hong Kong, among others), Brendon also showcased his talent at the prestigious Cielo Club in New York in June 2010.
Additionally, in his capacity as a producer, Brendon has released his original tracks and remixes on several esteemed labels including In The Woods (USA), Los Grandes (Spain), Reversoulmusic (USA), Audio Parallax (UK), Hotbox Music (USA), Soul Shift (USA), Defected (UK), Rawjak (SG), Eclesia (SG), Issys Groove (UK), Love International (MY), and One With Music (SG).
Due to his strict dedication to music style and sophistication and meticulous attention to detail, it's easy to see why Nicolas Mattar, the proprietor of 'Cielo' and 'Output' in New York, refers to him as a 'taste master' and one of the top DJs in the area. Anticipate nothing but a performance that transcends broad musical genres - encompassing the past, present, and future.
Featuring a delightful mix of Soul, Funk, Disco, New Wave, Italo Disco, Nu Disco, Deep House, and Balearic, this month's show was first broadcast on Sunday, November 28th. You can enjoy the show by using the Mixcloud player provided below.
