Bicycle Corporation has announced guest DJ Brendon P for their 'Roots' episode 119. Scientific Sound Asia, an Asian electronic music station, promoter, and DJ agency serves the region and internationally, continuing to provide a platform for the finest talent in the electronic music scene.

Bicycle Corporation is the Italian duo of DJ and Producer Marco Mei and the talented Stefano Ugliano, also known by his alias 6884. Together, they have released over 60 tracks, spanning numerous sub-genres of House and Techno music.

Marco began his journey in the early nineties, hosting and playing at House and Techno events under the name ‘Urban People,’ a crew that toured all across Italy. His dedication and unique sound eventually landed him a residency at the world-renowned Pacha in Egypt. This opportunity opened doors for him, leading to DJ bookings on an international scale, and propelling him on a musical journey around the globe.

Stefano, born and raised in Torino, Italy, displayed a wealth of musical talent from a young age, having studied classical piano, percussion, and drums. As a child, he was deeply inspired by composers such as Chopin and loved experimenting with West African Djembe rhythms.

Despite his classical training, Stefano’s fascination with electronic music grew during his teenage years. The allure of the DJ, controlling the energy of the crowd with electronic beats, captivated him.

He began to explore this genre, which was rare to find on Italian radio stations in the '90s. His meeting with Marco was the catalyst for the formation of Bicycle Corporation, blending their skills to become an influential duo in the underground electronic music scene.

Their collaboration has led to a dynamic body of work, and Bicycle Corporation continues to make waves with its innovative productions and powerful performances. With Brendon P. joining them as the guest DJ for this episode, Roots promises yet another energetic and memorable showcase of talent.

This week's guest DJ for Bicycle Corporation’s ‘Roots’ episode 119 is DJ Brendon P, a highly respected figure with over four decades of experience in the music scene. Born Brendon Perera in Singapore, Brendon P has earned a reputation for his low-profile, lo-fi approach to DJing and his impressive longevity in the industry.

His DJ career began in 1980 on the Singaporean mobile DJ circuit, followed by a swift transition to clubs a year later. From his early beginnings, he demonstrated a deep passion for music, which has remained a hallmark of his career.

A transformative experience came in 1984 when Brendon visited New York City. During his time there, he was introduced to the city's famous club scene, frequenting iconic venues like the Funhouse, the Paradise Garage, the Danceteria, and the Area.

This exposure to New York's vibrant nightlife and cutting-edge music scene played a significant role in shaping his musical taste, particularly influencing his transition towards house music, which was gaining momentum at the time. His musical style now encompasses a wide range of genres, including House, Techno, Disco, Nu Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge, and Electronica, reflecting his passion for diverse sounds.

Throughout the '80s and '90s, Brendon secured residencies at prestigious clubs such as Juliana’s, Bacchus, Neo Pharaohs, Venom, and NOX. However, it was his nine-year residency at Singapore's iconic Zouk Club that truly cemented his status as a leading DJ.

Zouk's global reputation provided Brendon with a platform to further develop his craft and expand his reach to an international audience. Between 2001 and 2009, he also held a two-year residency at Kyo and later spent five years as part of the resident team at the CE LA VI Rooftop Club & Skybar at Marina Bay Sands.

Brendon’s performances have taken him to cities across the globe, including Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taiwan, Hanoi, and Hong Kong. One of the highlights of his international career was playing at the world-renowned (and now defunct) Cielo Club in New York in June 2010.

In addition to his impressive DJ career, Brendon is also an accomplished producer. He has released original tracks and remixes on various labels such as In The Woods (USA), Los Grandes (Spain), Reversoulmusic (USA), Audio Parallax (UK), Hotbox Music (USA), Soul Shift (USA), Defected (UK), Rawjak (SG), and One With Music (SG). His productions have been widely praised for their creativity and depth, further establishing his reputation in the electronic music scene.

His commitment to maintaining a sophisticated and unique musical style has earned him accolades from industry professionals, including Nicolas Mattar, owner of New York’s Cielo and Output clubs, who described him as a ‘taste master’ and one of the best DJs in the region.
