This week, Bicycle Corporation’s guest DJ, Terence C, will be presenting his fourth 'Electronic Roots' show. Scientific Sound Asia, a leading Asian electronic music station, DJ agency, and promoter, continues to connect global audiences with top electronic music talent.

Bicycle Corporation, the Italian duo consisting of DJ and producer Marco Mei and the talented Stefano Ugliano, aka 6884, has made a significant impact in the world of house music and techno. Together, they have produced over 50 original tracks and remixes across various house music and techno sub-genres.

Marco Mei began his musical journey in the early nineties, starting as a DJ and producer with his crew 'Urban People,' which helped him gain recognition throughout Italy. His early success led to a residency at Pacha in Egypt, where he started receiving international DJ bookings, marking the beginning of his global musical journey.

Stefano Ugliano, hailing from Torino, Italy, displayed remarkable musical talent from a young age. With a deep passion for classical piano, percussion, and drums, Stefano’s love for compositions by Chopin and West African Djembe set the foundation for his future in electronic music.

The allure of DJing and electronic beats, which were rare on ‘90s Italian radio, inspired Stefano to explore this new musical chapter, leading to the formation of Bicycle Corporation. Recently, Bicycle Corporation has revisited its early tracks and set up a Bandcamp page to distribute its original works, bringing their classic sounds to a new audience.

Guest DJ Terence C.

This week's guest DJ is Terence C, a standout figure in Malaysia's electronic music scene. With over 22 years as a resident DJ in Kuala Lumpur’s top clubs, Terence C is a gem in the world of house music and techno. His impressive career includes warming up for a lineup of iconic DJs such as David Morales, Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong, Chicane, Sasha, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Carl Cox, Nic Fanciulli, M.A.N.D.Y., and Paul van Dyk. His extensive experience has made him a sought-after opener for many of these top house music and techno DJs.

Terence's reputation for excellence is evident from his consistent role as the go-to DJ whenever John Digweed performs in KL. Having delivered at least nine opening or closing sets for Digweed at his request, Terence C has solidified his status in the techno and progressive house scenes. For the past nine years, he has been a key figure at Zouk KL, Malaysia’s premier international clubbing destination, shaping its musical identity through his diverse sets and role as a VJ.

His passion for techno continues to shine through his monthly event, ‘We Love Techno,’ which he curates alongside DJ XU. This night focuses on underground techno sounds from influential labels like Drumcode, Cocoon Recordings, and Bedrock Records, reflecting Terence's dedication to deep house and techno music.

Beginning his career in 1998 as a protégé of DJ Chris Doss, Terence quickly established himself with residences at KL's Cubeat and Globar. A significant milestone came when he warmed up for David Morales during his first-ever Malaysian show, marking a high point in Terence’s early career.

Throughout Malaysia's vibrant dance music scene, Terence has been a mainstay at venues like Movement Club, Backroom, Nouvo, and Atmosphere. His influence extends beyond Malaysia, with notable performances at Lush in Singapore and Liquid Club in Ho Chi Minh City.

In 2005, Terence co-founded Altered Image with Callen Tham and Didjital, an audio-visual collective that pushed boundaries by blending cinematic visuals with turntable beats and live effects. Their innovative approach won them the Malaysian Heineken Thirst competition and took them on a Southeast Asian tour, gaining a new fan base along the way.

Always at the forefront of technological innovation, Terence has invested heavily in mastering Ableton Live, enhancing his sets with both software and traditional decks. With nearly a decade at Zouk KL, Terence C is now focusing more on his production work, with several releases planned for later in the year.

Expect an exciting increase in his visibility across Southeast Asia, as Terence C continues to be one of Malaysia's most dedicated and influential DJs. This show originally aired on Wednesday 20th of October, you can listen to the show using the Mixcloud player below.
