Bicycle Corporation has announced their playlist for their 'Roots' episode 125. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music station, promoter, and DJ agency serving the region and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is an Italian duo of the DJ and Producer Marco Mei plus the skilled Stefano Ugliano aka 6884. In the early nineties, Marco began his musical journey as a DJ and producer, organizing his own events with a collective called 'Urban People' throughout Italy.
Consequently, he was acknowledged and landed a residency at the well-known electronic music brand Pacha, leading to DJ gigs on a global level. This signified the start of his musical exploration worldwide.
Stefano, who comes from Torino, Italy, displayed exceptional musical abilities early in life. He passionately dedicated himself to studying classical piano, percussion, and drums, especially drawn to Chopin's music and the rhythmic beats of the West African Djembe.
However, the sight of the DJ mesmerizing the crowd started to intrigue young Stefano more and more. He wondered if those electronic rhythms seldom played on Italian radio stations in the '90s, could open up a new chapter in his life, eventually paving the way for the development of Bicycle Corporation.
Bicycle Corporation's Episode 125 of Roots takes listeners on a musical voyage through Brazilian Jazz, Funk, Jazz Fusion, Disco, and Afrobeat. This eclectic mix includes timeless tracks like Airto Moreira's "Circo Maribondo" and Donald Byrd's "You And The Music," alongside Funk classics by James Brown and Maceo Parker.
From the soulful rhythms of Rose Royce’s "Do Your Dance" to the Afrobeat brilliance of Fela Kuti's "Sorrow Tears And Blood," this episode offers a rich exploration of musical heritage. Adding to the diversity are Synthpop gems from Fad Gadget and Gina X, as well as Brazilian flavours from Jorge Ben and Sambôa.
