Bicycle Corporation has unveiled the playlist for episode 194 of their acclaimed Roots show. Scientific Sound Asia continues to be a leading electronic music station, event organizer, and DJ agency, committed to reaching audiences in Asia and beyond.

Consisting of the energetic Italian DJ and producer pair Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, who also goes by the name 6884, Bicycle Corporation has established itself as a significant figure in the music scene for over a decade. Their vast collection of music features over 50 tracks across a range of genres including French House, Deep House, Tech House, and Techno.

In the early 1990s, Marco started his career by organizing House and Techno music events with an ensemble called 'Urban People.' Over time, he became increasingly influential in the music scene, establishing himself as a prominent and highly sought-after figure in Italy.

Marco's international commitments have extended his reputation far beyond his home country, showcasing his global reach. These bookings on a worldwide scale have represented a notable progression in his career, expanding his horizons beyond Italy.

Originally from Turin, Italy, Stefano displayed a natural talent for music from a young age. He developed a strong passion for the music industry, dedicating his spare time to perfecting his abilities. During his educational journey, he explored classical piano, percussion, and drums, developing a special interest in Chopin's music and the rhythmic complexities of the West African Djembe.

During his exploration of different musical genres, Stefano found a particular passion that strongly connected with him: DJing. As a young person, he was captivated by the skill of DJs in manipulating turntables. The music he encountered was rarely heard on Italian radio stations at that time, which increased the allure of DJing as an artistic expression.

Although producing and performing music for large audiences may appear like an impossible dream to some, Stefano confronted these challenges directly. Through continuous effort, unwavering dedication, and firm determination, Stefano and Marco propelled Bicycle Corporation into the realm of electronic music, carving out their unique place in the industry.

Even though they have gained global acknowledgement, Marco and Stefano have remained loyal to their roots as young individuals experimenting with electronic music. Recently, they have been going over some of their initial tracks, reflecting on their musical evolution. Moreover, they have set up a Bandcamp page to showcase these tracks, emphasizing their growth and unwavering commitment to their musical beginnings.

Presented by Marco and Stefano, the "Roots" weekly radio show showcases a diverse range of music genres such as Funk, Disco, Afrobeat, Rare Groove, Soul, and Brazilian music. The program honours a wide array of musical heritages, especially spotlighting artists who infuse Afrocentric elements, providing an engaging space to celebrate various musical traditions.

Bicycle Corporation’s Roots Episode 194 takes listeners on a vibrant journey through Jazz Fusion, Funk, Afrobeat, Brazilian Jazz, and World Music. The episode showcases legendary Jazz Fusion tracks like Billy Cobham’s "Stratus" and Herbie Hancock’s "Chameleon," which set the stage for a seamless blend of rhythmic innovation and melodic depth.

Funk and Soul make a strong appearance with Donald Byrd’s "You And The Music" and Roy Ayers’ "Ain’t No Sunshine," delivering groove-laden rhythms and soulful energy. The Afrobeat and Brazilian influences add a rich cultural dimension with standout tracks like Walter Wanderley’s "Os Grilos" and Shovell’s "Soul Makossa."

Experimental elements shine through in selections like Crosby, Stills & Nash & Neil Young’s "Dark Star" and The Tubes’ "Drums," creating an eclectic and globally inspired listening experience. This episode masterfully blends Jazz Fusion, Funk, Afrobeat, Brazilian Jazz, and Folk Rock, creating a globally inspired auditory journey.

The mix seamlessly transitions between rhythmic complexity, melodic innovation, and experimental sounds. Make sure to listen on Sunday, July 28th, 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM Indochina Time (ICT) for the live show, or catch the replay on Thursday from 6 AM to 8 AM (ICT).
