Bicycle Corporation has revealed that DJ Jasmine Li will be the guest for episode 93 of their 'Electronic Roots' show. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian DJ agency, promoter, and electronic dance music genre station that broadcasts in the region and worldwide.
Bicycle Corporation is a DJ and producer duo from Italy, comprising Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, who is more commonly recognized as 6884. Throughout their music career, they have created a diverse range of tracks, totaling more than 50, spanning genres such as French House, Deep House, Tech House, and Techno.
Starting in the early nineties, Marco kickstarted his career by participating as a crew member in events such as ‘Urban People.’ Over time, he established a reputation in the music industry and eventually became a sought-after figure throughout Italy.
After achieving success in his home country, he landed a residency at the prestigious nightclub franchise Pacha. He then relocated to Africa to start his residency in South Sinai, Egypt, more precisely in Sharm el Sheikh. His residency and his reputation for energizing the nightlife scene resulted in international DJ bookings and launched him into a global musical adventure.
Stefano, hailing from Torino, Italy, displayed early signs of talent as a musician. His fascination with musical arts grew rapidly, occupying a significant portion of his free time. He delved into classical piano, percussion, and drums, while also developing a deep admiration for Chopin's works and the tribal beats of West African Djembe.
Despite his deep appreciation for various genres of music, Stefano had a special fondness for something unique - the DJ. The individual controlling the turntables captivated the young Stefano like nothing else. These beats were rarely heard on any Italian radio station during that period.
For most people, producing those sounds and performing them in front of large audiences would appear to be an impossible dream. However, Stefano remained undeterred. He possessed a vision that he was determined to fulfil, and through relentless hard work, unwavering dedication, and sheer persistence, along with a fortuitous encounter with Marco, Bicycle Corporation was established.
Despite their current success, Marco and Stefan have not overlooked their modest origins. Lately, they have revisited some of their earlier tracks and established a Bandcamp page to share them.
The Electronic Roots show showcases top electronic music artists from Asia, featuring a diverse range of genres such as House, Techno, Afro House, Organic House, Tech House, Melodic House, Arabica House, Melodic Techno, and more.
Guest DJ Jasmine Li.
Jasmine Li, a DJ, producer, and acoustic musician born in Guangzhou and currently based in Shanghai, is our guest DJ this week. She has been a prominent figure in China's electronic music scene for more than two decades and now resides in Valencia, Spain.
Originating as a professional Chinese classical and operatic musician, her strong foundation in the performing arts is evident. Her prominent position in the classical music scene provided her with an advantage when she ventured into electronic music production, particularly in creating techno and house music songs.
Embracing her new passion, Jasmine became the co-founder and charismatic owner of Shanghai's notorious underground club Celia, a hotspot for the elite kings and queens of Shanghai, where deep house and dark techno music filled the air.
With this latest addition to her portfolio of club ventures, including Shiva Lounge and Downtown, Jasmine has certainly left a significant mark on Shanghai's music scene. Jasmine is a frequent performer at prestigious events like Elrow, Amsterdam Dance Event, A Summer Story, Great Wall Festival, and various others during her travels across Asia and Europe.
When Jasmine is not DJing or performing live, she spends her time in her underground studio in Shanghai working on music production for her Silverlining project. In this project, she blends traditional Chinese sounds from the Pipa and Guzhen instruments with electronic music.
Jasmine Li boasts a nearly two-decade career marked by performances alongside numerous international DJs such as Sasha, Darren Emerson, Deadmau5, Mark Knight, Armin Van Buuren, Adana Twins, and others. Her extensive experience includes collaborations with a wide array of renowned artists in the electronic music scene.
