Bicycle Corporation has announced their playlist for their 'Roots' episode 134. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music station, DJ agency, and promoter serving the region and internationally.

Bicycle Corporation is an Italian duo comprised of the talented DJ and Producer Marco Mei and the skilled artist Stefano Ugliano, who is also known by his stage name, 6884. Their collaboration has become a significant force in the electronic music scene, with roots tracing back to the early nineties.

During this transformative period, Marco began to carve out his musical identity as a DJ and producer, immersing himself in the vibrant nightlife of Italy. He took the initiative to organise his own events under the name 'Urban People,' which quickly gained traction and popularity across various cities in Italy.

As Marco's reputation grew, he secured a coveted residency at the renowned international nightclub brand Pacha, located in Egypt. This opportunity was pivotal, as it provided him with a platform to hone his craft and connect with a global audience.

The residency at Pacha opened the doors to a multitude of international DJ bookings, allowing Marco to share his unique sound and energetic performances with fans around the world. This marked the beginning of an exhilarating musical journey that would take him to various countries, where he would perform at prestigious festivals and clubs, further solidifying his status in the electronic music industry.

On the other hand, Stefano, who was born and raised in the culturally rich city of Torino, Italy, exhibited a remarkable affinity for music from an early age. His childhood was filled with the sounds of classical music, as he passionately studied the piano, percussion, and drums.

He developed a deep appreciation for the works of classical composers such as Chopin, whose intricate melodies captivated his imagination, and he found inspiration in the rhythmic patterns of instruments like the West African Djembe, which added a diverse layer to his musical repertoire.

However, as he transitioned into his teenage years, the exhilarating image of the disc jockey energising the crowd became increasingly appealing to Stefano. He began to contemplate the idea that the electronic beats, which were infrequently featured on '90s Italian radio, might signal the dawn of a new and exciting chapter in his life.

This curiosity and desire for exploration ultimately led him to cross paths with Marco. Their meeting was lucky, sparking a creative partnership that would culminate in the formation of Bicycle Corporation. Together, they have fused their diverse musical backgrounds and influences, crafting a distinctive sound that resonates with audiences both in Italy and around the globe.

Bicycle Corporation delivers another eclectic and groove-packed edition of Roots, with episode 134 diving deep into the worlds of Afrobeat, Disco, House, and Latin Jazz. The set kicks off with the percussive energy of Black Man & Wind Storm’s “Aeo Part. 1 & 2”, leading into the funky James Brown classic “Sexmachine” (Staf 2006 Edit) and the irresistible Bohannon remix by Dimitri From Paris. Each track flows seamlessly, blending classic disco influences with modern edits and house-infused rhythms.

As the mix progresses, standout moments include Patrick Cowley’s “Megatron” (Pleasure Voyage Italo Retouch), the Latin-infused Gledd’s “Agua Do Romao”, and the deep percussive groove of Austin Ato’s “When Love Is Drums”. The set also showcases Afrobeat elements from Feel Kuti’s “Sorrow, Tears & Blood” (Timmy Regisford Remix) and the high-energy funk of First Choice’s “Love Thang” (Barry & Gibbs Edit). The closing selections, including Harry Thumann’s “Underwater” and Freddie James’ “Get Up And Boogie”, wrap things up on a euphoric note.

This episode is a must-listen for anyone who loves the golden era of disco, deep house grooves, and Afro-Latin rhythms. Whether you’re a vinyl purist or a new listener exploring classic sounds, Roots 134 is a sonic journey worth taking!
