Bicycle Corporation has announced the tracklist for their upcoming Roots radio show. Scientific Sound Asia, the leading underground electronic music station, DJ agency, and promoter in the region, will host the show. This platform serves Vietnam, Malaysia, China, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, and the rest of Asia.
Bicycle Corporation is a dynamic duo comprising world-renowned DJ and producer Marco Mei and the talented Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together, they have released over 50 tracks across various house music and techno sub-genres.
Rewind to 1991 in Italy, where Marco was just beginning his journey as a DJ, soon organizing his own house music and techno events. He started the collective 'Urban People,' and together with his cohorts, they hosted events across the length of Italy.
This recognition led to Marco securing a resident slot at Pacha in Egypt. Over time, this position gained him global recognition and DJ bookings, launching him on a journey around the world.
Raised in Torino, Italy, Stefano displayed an incredible talent for music from a young age (and for mathematics, but that’s another story). He passionately studied classical piano, percussion, and drums, developing a deep appreciation for both Chopin and West African djembes.
However, the enigmatic figure of 'the guy behind the turntables' became increasingly captivating for the teenage Stefano. Little did he know that those elusive electronic beats, so difficult to find on '90s Italian radio stations, were about to introduce him to an entirely new chapter in his life.
The tracklist for the upcoming show is detailed below and represents the 'Roots' of their sound, showcasing the genres that have influenced their electronic releases. These genres include Funk, Disco, Soul, Afrobeat, Electro, Rare Groove, Hip Hop, and Afrocentric. Bicycle Corporation is available to book through our Asian DJ agency.
Bicycle Corporation’s Roots Episode 13, aired on July 28, 2019, is a globally-inspired journey blending Afrobeat, Disco, Funk, and Brazilian Jazz. Highlights include Afrobeat classics like Fela Kuti’s "O.D.O.O (Lodger Remix)" and Manu Dibango’s "Afrobango Django Groovin."
Brazilian rhythms come alive in Tania Maria’s "Come With Me (Lego Unreleased Edit)" and Gaspar Muniz’s "Emorio." Disco grooves and Funk-infused tracks such as Rose Royce’s "Do Your Dance" and Dexter Jones’ "Don't Stop (Alpaca Edits)" bring timeless energy, while unique edits like J.M. Jarre’s "Oxygen (Lego Edit)" add an electronic twist. This playlist is a vibrant, rhythmically diverse celebration of global sounds and classic grooves.
