Terence C, a guest DJ from Bicycle Corporation, is set to launch his forthcoming programme, Electronic Roots 128, on Scientific Sound Asia. Esteemed as Asia's leading electronic dance music station, as well as a promoter and DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia connects with audiences both locally and globally.

Bicycle Corporation is a partnership between Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and the accomplished producer Stefano Ugliano, known professionally as 6884. Together, they have produced and remixed over 50 original tracks within the House and Techno genres, significantly influencing the electronic music landscape.

Marco began his DJ career in the early 1990s, motivated by the burgeoning electronic music scene and Afro-centric rhythms. As he entered the industry, he established Urban People, an organisation that hosted House and Techno events throughout Italy. This venture enabled Marco to enhance his understanding of sound and refine his event management skills, ultimately leading to a residency at Pacha in Egypt.

This pivotal role enhanced his reputation, paving the way for international DJ opportunities that marked the onset of his global career. His time at Pacha ignited a passionate desire to share his talents with audiences around the world.

Stefano, hailing from Torino, Italy, displayed remarkable musical talent from an early age. Encouraged by his parents to pursue a career in music, he dedicated himself to classical piano, percussion, and drums, drawing inspiration from a wide array of musical styles, including Chopin and West African rhythms. This diverse foundation has profoundly shaped his contributions to electronic music.

Stefano's early exposure to various music genres provided a solid foundation for his artistic journey. His intrigue with electronic music began in the 1990s, a period when it was seldom featured on Italian radio, yet its rhythms and melodies captivated him.

Despite their many achievements, Marco and Stefano remain humble. They have revisited some of their earlier works, reaffirming their commitment to their musical roots. Recently, they launched a Bandcamp page to showcase their creations, highlighting their dedication to preserving their artistic legacy.

Electronic Roots, hosted by Marco and Stefano, is a radio programme focused on House and Techno, providing a platform for prominent artists across Asia. This initiative celebrates the vibrant Asian electronic music scene and fosters international connections and collaborations.

Zouk is globally acclaimed among electronic music enthusiasts, primarily due to its vibrant live performances. Terence's association with Digweed underscores his influence and vital contribution to Malaysia's dynamic nightlife scene.

Prior to the pandemic, Terence partnered with DJ XU, a prominent figure in Kuala Lumpur, to co-host monthly Techno events at Zouk entitled "We Love Techno." This initiative was designed to introduce audiences to the underground sounds of labels such as Drumcode and Cocoon Recordings.

Under Terence's stewardship, "We Love Techno" evolved into a premier platform for innovative electronic music and emerging Techno artists. Terence’s expertise, combined with DJ XU’s influence, significantly enriched Kuala Lumpur’s electronic music scene and provided fans with an unforgettable auditory experience.

Terence commenced his career in 1998 under the mentorship of DJ Chris Doss, quickly gaining recognition in Malaysia. He frequently performed at venues such as Cubeat and Globar, steadily advancing within the music industry.

A pivotal moment in Terence's career occurred when he was selected to open for David Morales at his inaugural show in Malaysia. This opportunity propelled Terence into the spotlight, solidifying his stature in the local electronic music scene.

In the early 2000s, Terence garnered further acclaim as a resident DJ at Movement Club in Malaysia. He also performed at notable venues such as Backroom, Nouvo, and Atmosphere, playing a crucial role in the vibrant electronic music landscape of Malaysia.

Terence's influence extends beyond the nightlife of Kuala Lumpur, impacting the broader Southeast Asian music scene. He has graced prestigious venues like Lush in Singapore and Liquid in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2005, he co-founded Altered Image, an audio-visual project that merges innovative sounds with captivating visuals.

Through collaborations with artists Callen Tham and Digital, Terence transformed performance art into a multimedia experience with significant impact. Altered Image won the Malaysian segment of the Heineken Thirst competition, leading to a tour across Southeast Asia.

Altered Image revolutionised the electronic scene with cinematic visuals, turntable expertise, and live effects that captivated audiences on the dance floor. This achievement marked a significant chapter in Terence's creative journey, enhancing his artistic legacy.

Recently, Terence has embraced the Ableton Live production suite, honing his technical skills to elevate his sound. By integrating software with decks and CDJs, he continually pushes the boundaries of live performance.

Episode 128 of Electronic Roots kicks off with the dreamy grooves of Sascha Funke and DJ Koze, immediately setting an atmospheric tone rooted in Indie Dance. Tracks from Sahar and Red Axes inject a quirky, energetic vibe that keeps the pulse vibrant and unpredictable.

Moving into deeper territory, the mix shifts into elegant melodic realms with Vini Pistori and Dclviii Ofc providing lush textures. Terence C effortlessly transitions into House and Progressive House moments with Super Flu, Tomas Briski, and Kasey Taylor, maintaining a rich, evolving flow.

As the energy intensifies, Techno elements take over with standout selections like Danny Howells’ "Stereodrama," Ma Haiping’s hypnotic layers, and fierce cuts by Ida Engberg and Marco Resmann. These selections offer a powerful build while retaining melodic depth.

The journey concludes with sophisticated Progressive and Melodic House highlights from Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, and Sasha & Artche. Terence C once again demonstrates his knack for crafting emotionally resonant and sonically compelling sets. Tune in for a ride through genre-defying sounds.
