Bicycle Corporation guest DJ Brendon P will be presenting his next 'Electronic Roots' show. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music station, event management company, and DJ agency serving the region and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is an Italian duo of DJ and Producer, Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, better known as 6884. In their years of releasing music, the pair have produced well over 50 tracks including French House, Deep House, Tech House and Techno.
Starting out in the early 1990s as a crew member for events such as 'Urban People,' Marco quickly made a name for himself in the music industry in Italy. His popularity grew steadily, leading to high demand for his performances nationwide. Not stopping there, Marco's success in Italy soon translated into international bookings around the world.
Stefano, hailing from Torino, Italy, exhibited early signs of talent as a musician. His fascination with the world of music grew rapidly during his formative years, occupying a significant portion of his free time. He delved into classical piano, percussion, and drums, while also developing a deep admiration for the compositions of Chopin and the captivating rhythms of the West African Djembe.
Despite his deep appreciation for various music genres, Stefano had a special passion for one particular thing that stood out from the rest: The DJ at the turntables captivated the teenage Stefano like nothing else. Those rhythms were rarely heard on any Italian radio station back then.
Most people would consider making those sounds and performing them in front of large audiences to be an impossible dream. However, Stefano was determined and had a vision that he pursued with hard work, dedication, and unwavering determination, leading to the establishment of Bicycle Corporation.
Even with all their success today, Marco and Stefan have not forgotten their humble beginnings. Just recently they’ve been going back over some of their earlier tracks and even set up a Bandcamp page to distribute them.
Guest DJ Brendon P.
DJ Brendon P's real name is Brendon Perera and he is a native of Singapore. He prefers the low-profile, lo-fi approach to his work and has performed as a disc jockey for over four decades.
With a rich background in Clubs and Music, Brendon P began his journey in 1980 within the mobile DJ scene in Singapore before transitioning to clubs a year later. A trip to New York in 1984 exposed him to iconic venues like the Funhouse, the Paradise Garage, Dancetaria, and Area, immersing him in the city's club culture and the music that eventually evolved into the house music genre we know today.
Crossing vast musical backgrounds over his years as a DJ, both locally and internationally, he continued to acquire a keen ear and passion for dance music. His main genres now are House, Techno, Disco, Nu Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge, and Electronica.
Having started performing at clubs in the '80s with the Juliana's and Bacchus groups, both locally and internationally, followed by residencies with Neo Pharaohs, Venom, and NOX in the '90s, he then spent 9 years as a resident DJ at the world-famous Zouk Club in Singapore. From July 2001 to May 2009, he had a 2-year residency at Kyo, and in the last five years, he was part of the resident team at the prestigious CE LA VI Rooftop Club & Skybar at Marina Bay Sands.
He remains a prominent figure in both the local and international club scenes to this day. He has performed as a DJ in various cities worldwide, such as Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taiwan, Hanoi, and Hong Kong, among others. Additionally, he had the opportunity to showcase his skills at the prestigious Cielo Club in New York in June 2010.
Brendon, in his own and separate right, as a producer, has also released his original material and remixes on In The Woods (USA), Los Grandes (Spain), Reversoulmusic (USA), Audio Parallax (UK), Hotbox Music (USA), Soul Shift (USA), Defected (UK), Rawjak (SG), Eclesia (SG), Issys Groove (UK), Love International (MY) and One With Music (SG).
With his stringent adherence to music style, sophistication, and attention to detail, it's not difficult to understand why Nicolas Mattar, owner of New York's 'Cielo' and ‘Output’, calls him a 'taste master' and one of the best DJ's in the region. Expect nothing less from him, than a set that crosses vast musical boundaries; past, present and future.
