Bicycle Corporation has revealed that DJ Jasmine Li will be the guest for episode 76 of their 'Foundations' show. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian promoter, DJ agency, and electronic dance music genre station, broadcasting both regionally and internationally.

Bicycle Corporation is a duo from Italy consisting of the DJ and Producer Marco Mei and the skilled Stefano Ugliano who goes by the name 6884. At present, this Italian duo has put out more than 50 tracks and remixes spanning various genres like Deep House, Tech House, French House, Melodic, and Techno.

During the early 1990s, Marco embarked on his musical career as a DJ and producer, performing at local events. Over time, he started organizing house music, afrocentric, and techno events with his group called 'Urban People' throughout Italy.

After achieving success in his home country, he landed a residency at the prestigious nightclub franchise Pacha. He then relocated to Africa to start his residency in South Sinai, Egypt, more precisely in Sharm el Sheikh. His residency and his reputation for energizing the party atmosphere resulted in international DJ bookings and launched him into a global musical adventure.

Stefano, who was born and raised in Torino, Italy, showed a remarkable talent for music from a young age. He enthusiastically pursued his studies in classical piano, percussion, and drums, developing a deep passion for the compositions of Chopin and the complex rhythms of the West African Djembe.

Nevertheless, the image of the DJ captivating the audience became increasingly fascinating to young Stefano. He pondered whether those electronic beats, which were rare on Italian radio stations in the '90s, could lead to a new beginning in his life. As he and Marco discovered a shared musical connection, Bicycle Corporation began to evolve.

Marco and Stefan, despite being globally recognized, have not overlooked their beginnings as teenagers discovering electronic music. Lately, they have revisited some of their older tracks and established a Bandcamp page to share them.

Their Foundations show features a diverse range of musical genres performed by top electronic music artists from Asia, such as Afro House, Melodic House, Tech House, House, Melodic Techno, Organic House, Arabica House, Techno, and more.

Guest DJ Jasmine Li.

The guest DJ for this week is Jasmine Li, who hails from Guangzhou but is currently based in Valencia, Spain. Jasmine Li, a DJ, producer, and acoustic musician, has been a prominent figure in China's electronic music scene for more than two decades, with a significant portion of that time spent in Shanghai.

With a background as a professional Chinese classical and operatic musician, her strong foundation in the performing arts is evident. Her established reputation in the traditional music scene provided her with an advantage as she delved into electronic music production, focusing on techno and house music songs.

Embracing her newfound passion, Jasmine took on the role of co-founder and charismatic owner of Shanghai’s notorious underground club Celia, which pulsated with deep house and dark techno music, drawing in Shanghai's elite kings and queens.

By adding this to her two previous club ventures, Shiva Lounge and Downtown, she has undeniably made a lasting impact on Shanghai's music scene. Jasmine frequently travels around Asia and Europe, performing at renowned events such as Amsterdam Dance Event, Elrow, A Summer Story, Great Wall Festival, and numerous others.

When Jasmine is not DJ'ing or performing live, she spends her time in her underground studio in Shanghai working on music production for her Silverlining project. In this project, she blends the traditional sounds of the Pipa and Guzhen instruments with electronic music.

Jasmine Li, with almost 20 years of global performance experience, has shared the stage with international DJs like Sasha, Darren Emerson, Deadmau5, and Armin Van Buuren. She has also performed alongside artists such as Mark Knight and Adana Twins.

On her current show, she presents a mix of Afro House, Downtempo, Arabic House, Melodic House, and Organic House. The original broadcast of this show was on Friday, July 21, 2023. Feel free to listen to the Mixcloud player provided below.
