Bicycle Corporation has confirmed DJ Jasmine Li as the guest for episode 87 of their 'Foundations' series. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an electronic dance music genre station and DJ agency, promoting events and broadcasting across Asia and internationally.

Bicycle Corporation, an Italian duo, comprises DJ and Producer Marco Mei and the adept Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. To date, they have released more than 50 tracks and remixes spanning various genres such as Deep House, Tech House, French House, Melodic, and Techno.

In the early '90s, Marco embarked on his musical journey as a DJ and producer, initially performing at local events. Eventually, he started organizing his own House and Techno music events with his group 'Urban People,' spreading the movement throughout Italy.

After achieving success in his home country, he landed a residency at the well-known nightclub franchise Pacha. He then relocated to Africa to begin his residency in South Sinai, Egypt, more precisely in Sharm el Sheikh. His residency and his reputation for energizing the nightlife scene resulted in international DJ bookings and launched him into a global musical adventure.

Raised in Torino, Italy, Stefano showed a remarkable talent for music from a young age. He pursued classical piano, percussion, and drums with fervour, developing a deep appreciation for the works of Chopin and the rhythms of the West African Djembe.

Nevertheless, the image of the disc jockey energizing the crowd became increasingly captivating for the young Stefano. He pondered whether those elusive electronic beats, scarcely found on Italian radio stations in the ‘90s, might herald a new chapter in his life, leading to the evolution of Bicycle Corporation.

Despite achieving worldwide fame, Marco and Stefan remain true to their origins as teenagers who were just discovering electronic music. They have recently revisited some of their early tracks and have even established a Bandcamp page for their distribution.

Featuring some of the top electronic music artists from Asia, their radio shows showcase a diverse range of genres such as House, Techno, Afro House, Organic House, Tech House, Melodic House, Arabica House, Melodic Techno, and more.

This week's featured guest DJ, Jasmine Li, hails from Guangzhou and is currently based in Valencia, Spain. As a DJ, producer, and acoustic musician, she has been a prominent figure in China's House Music scene for over two decades, including a 15-year stint in Shanghai.

Beginning her career as a professional Chinese classical and operatic musician, her foundation in the performing arts is unmistakable. Her established reputation in these genres provided a significant advantage as she transitioned into electronic music by making techno and house music songs.

Jasmine pursued her newfound passion by becoming the co-founder and dynamic owner of Shanghai's notorious after-hours underground club, Celia, known for its deep house and dark techno vibes in China and attracting the elite kings and queens of the underground scene.

By merging this with her previous ventures, Shiva Lounge and Downtown, she has undoubtedly made a lasting impact on Shanghai's music scene. As a regular on the Asia and Europe tour circuits, Jasmine has performed at renowned events such as Elrow, Amsterdam Dance Event, A Summer Story, and Great Wall Festival, amongst others.

When Jasmine is not DJing or performing live, she can be found in her underground Shanghai studio, where she produces music for her Silverlining project. This project blends traditional Chinese sounds from instruments like the Pipa and Guzhen with electronic music.

Jasmine Li boasts nearly two decades of global performances, having shared the stage with renowned international DJs such as Sasha, Darren Emerson, Deadmau5, Mark Knight, Armin Van Buuren, and the Adana Twins, among others. This month, her show highlights genres like Afro House, Arabic House, Melodic House, and Organic House.

Tune into Scientific Sound Radio to experience her sets. This show originally aired on Friday, December 22nd. Please listen using the Mixcloud player.
