Blaze DJ has announced the lineup for the forthcoming 41st episode of his 'Ministry of Breaks' show on our radio station. Scientific Sound Asia stands as the premier electronic music station, event organiser, and DJ agency in Asia, committed to catering to a diverse international audience.
Originating from Walthamstow in London’s East End, Blaze DJ is a British DJ and producer deeply embedded in the underground music culture and the art of DJing. Throughout his career, he has consistently maintained a strong connection with this vibrant scene.
The "10,000 hours rule" suggests that approximately 10,000 hours of dedicated practice are required to achieve mastery in a particular field. However, Blaze DJ views these 10,000 hours as merely the beginning or a foundational training period.
Blaze DJ has devoted countless hours to perfecting his craft, attaining a profound and instinctive mastery of turntable techniques, music selection, and audience interaction. Growing up in a family enriched by various musical influences, he credits his parents and siblings as his primary sources of inspiration.
His musical tastes were shaped by an eclectic mix of Jazz, Funk, Disco, New Romantics, and '80s synth-pop. A pivotal moment occurred in 1987, during his school years, when he stumbled upon the cassette tape 'House Sounds of Chicago Volume 1.' This discovery transformed music from a mere hobby into a significant force that shaped his social relationships, career trajectory, and every aspect of his life.
Blaze DJ embarked on his career at the age of 15, swiftly establishing himself as a reputable DJ. His initial performances at a pub in Edmonton garnered positive responses from audiences, leading to regular bookings in Birmingham and Faliraki. His shows at these venues consistently captivated large crowds, occasionally attracting up to 2,000 attendees.
With extensive experience amassed throughout his DJing career, Blaze DJ has refined his skills and gained recognition as a seasoned expert within the industry. As a prominent figure in the Acid House movement, he feels privileged to have witnessed the evolution of the UK's electronic music scene from its inception to the present day.
Even after three decades in the industry, Blaze DJ continues to exhibit the same passion and energy in his performances as he did during the legendary parties of the early '90s. His unwavering commitment to house music has remained a constant throughout his remarkable career.
Blaze DJ adeptly fuses influences from a wide array of artists across different eras to create his unique and innovative sound. His music seamlessly integrates traditional house elements, subtle breaks, hints of acid, and a touch of techno, resulting in a truly distinctive auditory experience.
Blaze DJ's influence extends beyond his performances. He gained significant insights during his visits to DJ stores and made history by being the first to merge DJing and production equipment in a single location within the country.
Furthermore, he played a crucial role in transforming the retail landscape for electronic music. However, by 2005, Blaze DJ appeared to lose interest in performing. Although he remained active in the music industry as a sound and visual designer, focusing on enhancing sound systems in premier clubs globally, he ultimately stepped back from DJing and set aside his headphones.
After a fifteen-year hiatus, Blaze DJ has returned with renewed enthusiasm and a resolute determination to excel in his performances. Rapidly gaining traction, he has navigated last year's challenges and secured three monthly radio slots with Ibiza Club News, Underground Kollektiv, and Scientific Sound Asia.
With an extensive collection of breaks and breakbeat tracks, he is well-prepared for a significant resurgence in the nightclub scene. His affiliations with Industrial Force and Zeta Records have solidified his influence over the past thirty years, establishing him as a committed member of the global breaks music community.
In recent years, the Ministry of Breaks (MOB) brand has gained notable popularity in London, the capital of the UK, thanks to its unique fusion of breaks, bass, and bleeps. Simultaneously, Blaze DJ has been diligently working to expand the brand's presence across various platforms.
He has recently revitalised both his personal YouTube channel and the MOB YouTube channel, creating a platform to showcase their distinctive sound and reach a wider audience. Blaze DJ has been instrumental in organising Breaks n Bass events, enriching the nightlife scene, and reinforcing MOB's standing within the London music community.
Blaze DJ is Super busy at the moment, with monthly gigs "Good Vibes Only, The Dukes Underground Sessions, starting in April the new monthly Breakin Bass brunch in the Westend of London. Plus he is still hosting 2 open deck nights for aspiring DJs to perform.
Blaze DJ’s latest episode dives headfirst into the raw energy of Breaks and UK Bass, kicking off with a fierce opener from Stanton Warriors & Jem Haynes and weaving through tracks by Welder B, Subterfuge, and Demarkus Lewis. The mix maintains a relentless pace with syncopated rhythms and glitchy textures that define modern breakbeat culture.
The session introduces remixes and collaborations that push the genre’s boundaries like Goldie’s iconic “Inner City Life” reworked by Rabbit In The Moon and Serum & The Riddler’s explosive “Ain’t No Way” remix. Funk-laden moments and rolling basslines are highlighted by contributions from Greenflamez, Fran Break, and The Darrow Chem Syndicate.
A standout inclusion is the Progressive Breaks twist of Planet Funk’s “Inside All The People” (Lee Coombs Vocal Mix), seamlessly blending into the mix’s forward-thinking vision. Bass-heavy anthems like “Raving Crew” and “Ghetto Breaks” bring out the best of Blaze DJ’s signature selections.
From Electro-tinged edits to raw breakbeat bangers, Ministry of Breaks 41 is an essential ride through the spectrum of UK Bass and Breaks. Blaze DJ once again proves his curatorial strength in delivering dancefloor-ready energy from start to finish.
Don't miss the live broadcast on Friday, April 11th, 2025, from 6 PM to 8 PM Indochina Time (ICT), and make sure to listen to the re-run on Tuesday from 6 AM to 8 AM (ICT).
