Blaze DJ will be joining Scientific Sound Asia for his upcoming guest show 'Ministry of Breaks' 15 on our radio station. Scientific Sound Asia is the premier electronic music station in Asia, serving as a promoter and DJ agency with a global audience.
Blaze DJ hails from Walthamstow in the East End of London, U.K., and is a British DJ and producer. Throughout his career, he has been deeply rooted in underground music culture and the art of DJing.
As per the concept of the 10,000-hour rule, around 10,000 hours of practice are needed to reach true expertise and mastery in a particular field. Yet, for Blaze DJ, 10,000 hours only marked the beginning of his journey.
After dedicating countless hours to his craft, the DJ from London has cultivated an almost telepathic bond with the turntables, the music he spins, and his audience. Having grown up in a home filled with a diverse range of musical genres, Blaze DJ credits his parents and siblings as his earliest inspirations.
His taste was shaped by a mixture of jazz, funk, disco, New Romantics, and 80’s synth-pop. However, it was not until 1987, when he was still a schoolboy, that Blaze DJ found his sound upon listening to the cassette House Sounds of Chicago Volume 1. From that moment on, music became a passion for Blaze DJ, impacting not only his nights out but also his entire career and every facet of his life.
Blaze DJ started his DJing career at the young age of 15 and swiftly gained popularity, transitioning from performing at a local pub in Edmonton to holding residencies in Birmingham and Faliraki, where he entertained crowds of up to 2,000 people. With a wide range of DJing experiences under his belt, Blaze DJ is considered a true representative of the Acid House era and appreciates being part of the evolution of the UK's electronic music scene over the years.
Even after thirty years, he still brings the same enthusiasm and energy to his sets as he did during the epic parties of the early 1990s. For Blaze DJ, house music has always been the main focus.
Having been inspired by a variety of artists spanning from the past to the present, Blaze DJ has skillfully incorporated all his sources of inspiration and influences to create his distinctive sound. Picture a blend of classic house with a dash of breaks, a hint of acid, and a touch of techno to grasp the essence of Blaze DJ's musical style.
Blaze DJ made a significant impact not just as a DJ, but also as a pioneer in retail by being the first to integrate DJing and production equipment in one store, leading to a complete transformation of the electronic music community's shopping experience. By 2005, Blaze DJ appeared to have lost interest in performing, and despite continuing to work in the music industry as an Audio Visual designer and consultant, enhancing sound systems in renowned clubs worldwide, he eventually decided to retire from his DJing career.
Nevertheless, following a fifteen-year break, Blaze DJ reignited his passion and made a comeback with renewed energy and a goal to excel once again. He wasted no time and quickly secured three monthly radio slots with Ibiza Club News, Underground Kollektiv, and Scientific Sound Asia, despite the challenges of the past year.
With a complete collection of unreleased music and currently putting out tracks under Industrial Force and Zeta Records, he is prepared to make a strong comeback in the club scene. As one of the most dedicated DJs in the international breaks scene, he has been honing his craft for more than three decades.
Over the past two years, the Ministry of Breaks has been gaining momentum and is becoming known for its distinctive mix of breaks, bass, and bleeps. The brand is set to release new music for the upcoming summer.
Following a brief visit to Portugal, Blaze DJ has returned to London to resume his monthly residency at the Red Lion in Leytonstone, E11 in East London Ministry of Breaks Live. His most recent track, London Bass, can now be found on all major platforms and has been published by ONE7AUDIO. The original broadcast of this show was on Friday, July 29th.
