Scientific Sound Asia welcomes Blaze DJ for his next guest show 'Ministry of Breaks' 18 on our radio station. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music station, DJ agency and promoter for the region with an international following.

Blaze DJ is a British DJ and producer originating from Walthamstow in the East End of London, U.K. His whole career and background have been associated with underground music culture and DJing.

According to the 10,000-hour rule, it takes approximately 10,000 hours of practice to truly become an expert at something and master one’s trade. However, for Blaze DJ, 10,000 hours was just the beginning.

The London-based DJ has dedicated so many hours that he has developed an almost telepathic connection to the decks, the music he plays, and the people who listen. Growing up in a household exposed to various musical styles and genres, Blaze DJ credits his parents and siblings as his earliest influences.

A mix of Jazz, Funk, Disco, New Romantics, and 80’s synth-pop shaped his taste, but it wasn't until he came across the cassette House Sounds of Chicago Volume 1 in 1987, while still a schoolboy, that Blaze DJ knew he had found his sound. Since then, music has become a vocation for Blaze DJ, influencing not only his nights out but his entire career and every aspect of his life.

Starting DJing at the age of 15, Blaze DJ quickly established himself as a sought-after DJ, from the modest settings of a local pub in Edmonton to residencies in Birmingham and Faliraki, often playing to crowds of 2,000 people. A genuine member of the Acid House generation, Blaze DJ considers himself to be “one of the lucky ones” to have witnessed the growth of the UK’s electronic music scene from its beginnings to the present day.

Despite the passage of thirty years, he brings the same enthusiasm and energy to his sets now as he did while playing the epic parties of the early 1990s. For Blaze DJ, it has always been about house music.

Influenced by artists from the early days right through to today, he has managed to blend all of his inspiration and influences into the tapestry that is his unique sound. Think classic house, with a hint of breaks, a touch of acid, and a sprinkling of techno, and you’ll start to understand Blaze DJ’s style.

Blaze DJ’s influence wasn’t only felt behind the decks; he also spent time working in DJ shops. He became the first retailer in the country to combine DJing and producing equipment under one roof.

In addition, he was responsible for completely revolutionizing retailing in the DJ equipment sector, for the electronic music community. In 2005 it seemed Blaze DJ had lost the spark for performance, and while still working within the music industry as an Audio-Visual designer and consultant, working on the sound systems in some of the world’s most famous clubs, he decided to hang up his headphones and call a day on his DJing career.

However, after a fifteen-year hiatus, the spark was rekindled and Blaze DJ returned to the scene with newfound enthusiasm and a desire to perform at the highest level once more.

He’s certainly hit the ground running too, and despite the events of the last year has already secured three monthly radio slots with Ibiza Club News, Underground Kollektiv and Scientific Sound Asia.

Now, equipped with a full catalogue of unreleased music and currently releasing under Industrial Force and Zeta Records, he’s ready to take clubland by the scruff once again. One of the hardest work DJs in the global breaks scene and has been doing his thing for over 30 years now.

The brand Ministry of Breaks has been building traction over the last two years and is now gaining a reputation for its unique blend of breaks, bass and bleeps. With new music due to release soon for the winter.

Ministry of Breaks has a new monthly late-night event in South London starting on the 11th of November, check out the socials for more info. He has been busy back in the studio with lots of new unreleased music which is almost ready.
