Scientific Sound Asia is pleased to welcome Blaze DJ for his upcoming guest show 'Ministry of Breaks' 20 on our radio station. As an Asian electronic music station, promoter, and DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia boasts an international audience.
Blaze DJ is a British DJ and producer hailing from Walthamstow in London's East End, U.K. His entire career and background are linked to the underground music scene and DJing.
According to the 10,000-hour rule, it is posited that approximately 10,000 hours of practice are requisite to attain expertise and mastery in any given discipline. However, for Blaze DJ, these 10,000 hours represent merely the foundational phase of his apprenticeship.
Based in London, Blaze DJ has devoted a considerable number of hours to his craft, establishing an almost intuitive connection with his equipment, the music he selects, and his audience. Raised in an environment enriched with a diverse array of musical styles, Blaze DJ attributes his initial influences to his parents and siblings.
A blend of Jazz, Funk, Disco, New Romantics, and 1980s synth-pop has significantly shaped his musical preferences. Yet, it was upon encountering the cassette "House Sounds of Chicago Volume 1" in 1987, during his formative years, that Blaze DJ identified his true musical passion. Since that moment, music has become a driving force in his life, influencing his social experiences, career trajectory, and overall lifestyle.
Blaze DJ commenced his DJing career at the age of 15, rapidly building a reputation as a sought-after performer. He transitioned from modest beginnings at a local pub in Edmonton to residencies in Birmingham and Faliraki, often engaging with audiences of up to 2,000 attendees. As a genuine member of the Acid House generation, Blaze DJ considers himself fortunate to have observed the development of the UK electronic music scene from its inception to the present.
Despite the passage of three decades, he continues to infuse his performances with the same passion and energy that characterized the iconic parties of the early 1990s. For Blaze DJ, house music remains the core of his artistic expression.
Having been influenced by a myriad of artists over the years, he has skillfully woven these inspirations into the distinctive fabric of his unique sound. His style can be characterized as classic house, incorporating elements of breaks, acid, and techno.
Blaze DJ’s impact extends beyond performance; he has also played a significant role in the retail landscape of DJ and production equipment. He was the first retailer in the United Kingdom to integrate DJing and production tools under one comprehensive platform, thereby transforming the retail experience for the electronic music community.
In 2005, after years of involvement in the music industry as an audio-visual designer and consultant, where he contributed to sound systems in some of the world’s most renowned clubs. Blaze DJ withdrew from the performance scene, believing he had lost his enthusiasm for DJing.
However, after a fifteen-year hiatus, his passion for music was rekindled, prompting a return to the scene with renewed vigour and a commitment to performing at the highest level. He has made significant strides since his return, having secured three monthly radio slots with Ibiza Club News, Underground Kollektiv, and Scientific Sound Asia.
Now, equipped with a comprehensive catalogue of unreleased music and releasing under Industrial Force and Zeta Records, he is prepared to reestablish his presence in the club circuit. Recognized as one of the most industrious DJs in the global breaks scene, Blaze DJ has been refining his craft for over thirty years.
The "Ministry of Breaks" brand has gained traction over the past two years, becoming recognized for its innovative combination of breaks, bass, and bleeps. New music is anticipated to be released in the upcoming winter months.
The year 2022 has proven to be successful for Blaze DJ, marked by his inaugural Beatport release, "London Bass," on ONE7AUDIO, and noteworthy events under the Ministry of Breaks umbrella, including an all-day event in June and the launch of "Breaks n Bass." In 2023, he intends to build upon this success with a new merchandise line, the establishment of a Ministry of Breaks YouTube channel, and appearances at various festivals. For continuous updates, interested parties are encouraged to follow his social media channels.
