Scientific Sound Asia proudly presents Blaze DJ with his latest guest show 'Ministry of Breaks' 22 on our radio station. Scientific Sound Asia serves as the premier electronic music station, DJ agency, and event management company for the Asian region, with a growing international audience.

Blaze DJ, a British DJ and producer from Walthamstow in East London, U.K., has built his entire career around the underground music scene and DJ culture.

While the rule of 10,000 hours suggests that it takes this amount of practice to master a craft, for Blaze DJ, those 10,000 hours were just the beginning. His commitment to his work has led to an almost instinctive connection with the decks, his music, and his audience.

Growing up in a household that embraced a wide variety of musical styles and genres, Blaze DJ credits his parents and siblings as his earliest influences. A fusion of Jazz, Funk, Disco, New Romantics, and 80s synth-pop shaped his musical preferences.

However, it was upon hearing the cassette House Sounds of Chicago Volume 1 in 1987, while still at school, that he found his true calling in house music. From that day on, music became more than a passion for Blaze DJ—it became central to his life, shaping both his career and personal journey.

Starting out as a DJ at the age of 15, Blaze DJ quickly gained popularity, moving from a local pub in Edmonton to residencies in Birmingham and Faliraki, where he played to crowds of up to 2,000 people. As a true member of the Acid House generation, he feels fortunate to have witnessed the growth of the UK's electronic music scene from its origins to its current status.

More than 30 years later, Blaze DJ continues to bring the same energy and enthusiasm to his sets as he did during the epic raves of the early 1990s. For him, it has always been about house music. Drawing from a variety of influences, Blaze DJ has crafted a sound that blends classic house with a hint of breaks, a touch of acid, and a dash of techno, creating a style all his own.

Blaze DJ’s influence extends beyond the DJ booth. Having spent time working in DJ shops, he was the first retailer in the UK to combine DJ and production equipment under one roof, revolutionising the retail landscape for the electronic music community.

In 2005, feeling a waning passion for performing, Blaze DJ decided to step away from the decks. While continuing to work in the industry as an audio-visual designer and consultant—contributing to the sound systems of some of the world’s most renowned clubs—he hung up his headphones.

However, after a 15-year break, Blaze DJ reignited his passion and returned to the scene with fresh enthusiasm and a renewed drive to perform at the highest level. Despite recent global challenges, he has already secured three monthly radio slots with Ibiza Club News, Underground Kollektiv, and Scientific Sound Asia.

Armed with a catalogue of unreleased music and releasing tracks on labels such as Industrial Force and Zeta Records, Blaze DJ is poised to reclaim his place in clubland. As one of the hardest-working DJs in the global breaks scene, his dedication spans more than three decades.

His brand, Ministry of Breaks, has gained momentum over the last two years, earning a reputation for its distinctive blend of breaks, bass, and bleeps. With new music set for release in the winter, Blaze DJ is once again at the forefront of the scene.

In 2022, he celebrated his first Beatport release, London Bass on ONE7AUDIO, and hosted major Ministry of Breaks events, including an all-day party in June and the launch of Breaks n Bass. Looking ahead, 2023 promises to be another successful year for Blaze DJ and Ministry of Breaks. A remix of X-Static's Murderous Style is ready for release, and more projects are in the works. The new Ministry of Breaks YouTube channel is also set to launch soon.

Blaze DJ kicks off Ministry of Breaks 22 with a hard-hitting selection of Breaks and Breakbeat music, opening with DJ Natural Nate & Jiggabot’s “I Will Shine For You.” The energy quickly builds as DJ Icey’s “Acid Modal” and Kid Kenobi’s “Everybody Still Needs Acid” showcase the raw power of Breakbeat drums and deep bass grooves.

As the mix progresses, tracks like Brothers Of Funk’s “Bullet Proof” and Kouncilhouse & Amber Angell’s “Feels Like” bring that signature Breakbeat genre energy, blending rolling drum patterns with infectious basslines. The driving force of Breaks continues with Deekline’s “Fox & Furkin” and Bubble Couple’s “A Little Jungle,” delivering that classic Breakbeat sound with modern production.

The journey deepens with underground anthems like Phaeleh’s “Breakout” and JottaFrank’s “Awita,” highlighting the diversity of Breakbeat artists pushing the sound forward. Meanwhile, X-Static’s “Murderous Style (Blaze DJ Rework)” taps into the roots of Breakbeat hardcore, bringing a high-energy finish to this section of the mix.

Blaze DJ closes the show with deep, bass-driven cuts like Drumskull’s “Recovered Artefacts (LMajor Remix)” and Pavane’s “Take U,” reinforcing why Breaks and Breakbeat songs remain at the heart of underground electronic music. With influences from Breakbeat samples and touches of Acid and Techno, Ministry of Breaks 22 is a must-listen for fans of cutting-edge Breakbeat music. The full episode is now streaming on Mixcloud (player below), so tune in and experience the best in Breakbeat music.
