Scientific Sound Asia welcomes Blaze DJ for his next guest show 'Ministry of Breaks' 9 on our radio station. Scientific Sound Asia is the Asian DJ agency, promoter, and electronic dance music genre radio station for the region with an international following.
Blaze DJ is a British DJ and producer from Walthamstow in the East End of London, UK. His entire career and background have been associated with underground music culture and DJing.
The rule of 10,000 hours suggests that mastering a skill requires roughly 10,000 hours of practice. Yet, for Blaze DJ, those 10,000 hours were merely the beginning of an apprenticeship.
After dedicating countless hours to his craft, the DJ from London has cultivated an almost telepathic bond with the turntables, the music he spins, and his audience. Growing up in a home filled with a diverse range of musical genres, Blaze DJ credits his parents and siblings as his primary inspirations.
The fusion of jazz, funk, disco, New Romantics, and '80s synth-pop shaped his musical preferences, but it was the discovery of the cassette 'House Sounds of Chicago Volume 1' in 1987 that truly defined Blaze DJ's sound. From that moment, music became more than a passion for Blaze DJ; it influenced his nights out, his career path, and every facet of his life.
Blaze DJ started his DJing career at the young age of 15 and swiftly gained popularity among listeners, transitioning from a local pub in Edmonton to holding residencies in Birmingham and Faliraki, with crowds of up to 2,000 people. Having explored various aspects of DJing, Blaze DJ is considered to have a wide range of experience in the field. As a true representative of the Acid House era, Blaze DJ feels fortunate to have experienced the evolution of the electronic music scene in the UK from its inception to the current era.
Even after thirty years, he still infuses his sets with the same vigour and zest as he did at the legendary parties of the early '90s. For Blaze DJ, the heart and soul of his craft have always been house music.
Drawing inspiration from various artists spanning from the past to the present, Blaze DJ has skillfully incorporated his influences into the fabric of his distinctive sound. Imagine a blend of classic house with a dash of breaks, a pinch of acid, and a sprinkle of techno to grasp the essence of Blaze DJ's musical style.
Blaze DJ's impact extended beyond the turntables. As a pioneer in the industry, he was the first in the nation to merge DJing and production gear in a single retail space, transforming the electronic music community's shopping experience. By 2005, it appeared that Blaze DJ had lost his passion for performing. Despite continuing his work in the music industry as an Audio Visual designer and consultant, fine-tuning sound systems for some of the globe's most renowned clubs, he chose to retire his headphones and conclude his DJing career.
Nevertheless, following a fifteen-year break, Blaze DJ reignited his passion and made a comeback to the music scene with renewed energy and a determination to excel once again. He wasted no time and quickly landed three monthly radio gigs with Ibiza Club News, Underground Kollektiv, and Scientific Sound Asia, despite the challenges of the past year.
Now, with a complete catalogue of unreleased tracks and current releases under Industrial Force and Zeta Records, he is set to make a significant impact on the club scene once more. Blaze is also co-hosting Sonic Alchemy events in Islington, North London, and organizing his own events, known as Ministry of Breaks, in East London.
Tune in to this month's show showcasing Breaks, Breakbeat, UK Bass, Nu-Skool, and Old Skool music. Sit back and enjoy the show that was first broadcast on Friday, December 31st. Feel free to listen to the Mixcloud player provided below.
