DJ Joshua, hailing from Évora, Portugal, is celebrated for his extensive collection of electronic music spanning digital, vinyl, CDs, and tape. His passion for genres such as Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout started in his teenage years. Countless hours were spent perfecting his craft and organizing his vast library of music.
In the early 90s, rave music faced resistance in Portugal. DJ Joshua's persistence led him to secure radio residencies, where he began to share his love for rave music. He earned a strong reputation through local club and bar events before taking a break to focus on fatherhood.
Once his daughter grew older, Joshua revived his musical career by launching the Floating Beats podcast and radio series, gaining a substantial online following. His dedication to the art of electronic music continued with the creation of Velvety Elements, a show that explores the deeper, soulful side of House music. Both shows have been broadcast internationally on Scientific Sound Asia for the past two years.
Joshua's shows feature a blend of House and Techno, incorporating sub-genres like Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit Techno, Soulful House, Progressive House, and Vocal House. His mixes often include tracks from notable artists such as Delano Smith, Rick Wade, and Snilloc.
Joshua describes his approach to music: "Music is an art form. The fusion of elements can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that can float and end up falling onto your body. Enjoy it."
