DJ Joshua has unveiled the latest playlists for his weekly 'Floating Beats' and 'Velvety Elements' shows. Supported by Scientific Sound Asia, the leading electronic music station and DJ agency in Asia with a global audience, these shows reflect Joshua's commitment to the electronic music scene.
Hailing from Evora, Portugal, DJ Joshua is renowned for his extensive collection of electronic music across various formats, including digital, vinyl, compact disc, and tape. His passion for genres like Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout began in his teenage years and continued into early adulthood, where he devoted hours to refining his skills as a disc jockey and organising his vast music library.
In the early nineties, despite the resistance to rave music in Portugal, Joshua persisted, securing residencies at local stations to introduce rave music to the Portuguese public. He built a reputation through events at clubs and bars but paused his activities when he became a father.
As his daughter grew, Joshua returned to his roots by launching the 'Floating Beats' podcast and radio series. This initiative quickly garnered a following, allowing him to maintain his vision across several online platforms.
Not stopping there, Joshua later introduced 'Velvety Elements' to explore the deeper and more soulful aspects of House music. Both shows have been broadcast internationally and on Scientific Sound Asia for the past two years.
Joshua describes his work: "Music is an art form. The fusion of elements can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that can float and end up falling onto your body, enjoy it."
In his weekly shows, Joshua explores a blend of House Music and Techno sub-genres, including Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit Techno, Soulful House, Progressive House, Techno, Vocal House, and Melodic Techno.
