Scientific Sound Asia has introduced the latest playlists for DJ Joshua's radio shows, Floating Beats and Velvety Elements. As a key player in the Asian electronic music landscape, Scientific Sound Asia functions as a radio station, promoter, and DJ agency, significantly influencing the development of the electronic music community across Asia.

Hailing from Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been an integral part of the electronic music scene for many years. His extensive collection of digital files, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes underscores his unwavering dedication to the genre.

Throughout his career, DJ Joshua has excelled in various genres, including Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. Despite the adversities faced by the rave scene in Portugal during the 1990s, Joshua remained steadfast in his commitment to electronic music.

Confronted with societal challenges and criticism, he devised innovative methods to create and disseminate his music. By frequently collaborating with other artists, he organised events in clubs and bars, transforming them into vital hubs for House and Techno aficionados, thereby extending his influence well beyond his immediate locale.

Following the birth of his child, DJ Joshua scaled back his involvement in events and radio to focus on his family. However, as his daughter grew older, his passion for music was reignited, leading him to launch the Floating Beats podcast and radio show. This programme is celebrated for its eclectic selection of electronic music, showcasing Joshua's remarkable mixing skills, discerning track choices, and emotional depth across various genres.

DJ Joshua perceives music as a spiritual refuge, guiding listeners on a sonic journey that transcends traditional artistic boundaries. In January 2024, he expanded his artistic reach by establishing JFLM Recordings, a record label dedicated to promoting his creative works and enhancing his production efforts.

Kicking off the first hour of Floating Beats 685, DJ Joshua sets a rich foundation with Colin McNeil’s "Face In The Sand" and Gerwin Van Engelenburg’s "Rising," showcasing smooth and evolving House textures. Man Power and Oniris follow, weaving deeper elements into the mix with immersive soundscapes.

Momentum builds as Joshua introduces darker, hypnotic territory through Ken Ishii, William Arist, and Jancen, offering a run of deep and raw techno selections. This intensity crescendos with Filipe Barbosa’s peak-time banger "Exercise," before transitioning into melodic and emotive layers courtesy of Ian O'Donovan and Laurent Chanal.

In the second hour, Velvety Elements 257 brings back the warmth with Deep House highlights from Christopher Rau and Valerio Vaudano. A playful bounce follows through DJ Pipe and Joshua Marian’s "Shouts of Solidarity," as Joshua leans into soulful Minimal and Tech House tones.

The closing stretch blends textured Tech House from Mr. G and Slugg with the shuffle of DJ Windows 7’s UK Garage-driven "Xapiadora." Joshua signs off with a satisfying blend of classic grooves and modern depth, another captivating session from DJ Joshua.

Listen to the show live on Tuesday, April 9th, from 6 PM to 8 PM Indochina Time (ICT), with a repeat on Saturday from 6 AM to 8 AM (ICT).
