Scientific Sound Asia has unveiled the newest playlist for DJ Joshua's radio show, Floating Beats 679. As a prominent figure in the Asian electronic music scene, Scientific Sound Asia operates as a radio station, promoter, and DJ agency, playing a crucial role in shaping the electronic music community across Asia.

DJ Joshua, hailing from Évora, Portugal, has been a key figure in the electronic music scene since the mid-1990s. His extensive collection of digital files, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes underscores his enduring dedication to the genre.

Throughout his career, he has mastered various styles including Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. Despite the challenges faced by the rave scene in Portugal during the 1990s, Joshua remained committed to electronic music.

He devised creative methods to produce and distribute his work, often collaborating with fellow artists to host events in clubs and bars. These venues became essential meeting places for House and Techno enthusiasts, expanding his influence beyond his local area.

After his child was born, Joshua reduced his involvement in events and radio to focus more on his family. As his daughter grew up, his passion for music was revived, leading to the development of the Floating Beats podcast and radio show.

Celebrated for its diverse electronic music collection, the show highlights Joshua's exceptional mixing skills, careful track selections, and emotional exploration across various genres. He views music as a spiritual refuge, guiding listeners on auditory journeys that transcend traditional artistic boundaries.

In 2023, Joshua delved deeper into music production, adopting various pseudonyms to explore different facets of his creativity. Under the names K-Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand, and Joshua Onairam, he released numerous tracks, each highlighting a unique style and influence.

In January 2024, he founded JFLM Recordings to support his production efforts and act as a platform for his various works. Through this label, Joshua continues to engage in the electronic music scene, offering audiences a wide range of sounds that showcase his versatility and commitment to the art.

DJ Joshua opens Floating Beats 679 with an immersive journey through Raw, Deep & Hypnotic Techno, setting the tone with Exos’ “Only One Way” and Skov Bowden’s “Class C.” These tracks introduce a deep, pulsating energy, pulling listeners into the underground.

As the mix progresses, Kr!z’s “Angels Landing” and DJ Dextro’s “Remember When” keep the intensity high, layering hypnotic rhythms with rolling basslines. Uncertain’s “Praise” and Taken’s “Hybrid” push deeper into raw textures, blending sharp percussion with atmospheric depth.

Electric Rescue’s “Hyperdrive” and The Exaltics’ “Rising Sun (Alden Tyrell & Serge Remix)” add intricate, hypnotic layers, pushing the mix into full peak-time power. The seamless progression of Raw & Deep Techno maintains a steady flow of underground energy.

Closing the set, Manuel-M’s “Take” brings a shift in tone, introducing the only Tech House track of the hour. This subtle variation adds a groove-infused contrast, rounding off a relentless session of deep and driving Techno. DJ Joshua delivers another flawlessly curated mix, capturing the essence of underground electronic music.
