Scientific Sound Asia has announced the latest playlist for DJ Joshua's radio show, Floating Beats 684. As a leading entity in the Asian electronic music landscape, Scientific Sound Asia functions as a radio station, promoter, and DJ agency, playing a significant role in the development of the electronic music community throughout Asia.

DJ Joshua, originally from Évora, Portugal, has been a key figure in the electronic music domain since the mid-1990s. His extensive collection of digital files, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes reflects his longstanding commitment to the genre.

Throughout his career, he has excelled across various styles, including Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. Despite the challenges faced by the rave scene in Portugal during the 1990s, Joshua remained steadfast in his dedication to electronic music.

He devised innovative methods for producing and distributing his music, often collaborating with other artists to organise events in clubs and bars. These venues became vital hubs for House and Techno aficionados, allowing him to extend his influence beyond his immediate surroundings.

Following the birth of his child, Joshua scaled back his participation in events and radio to prioritise family life. However, as his daughter grew, his passion for music was rekindled, leading to the establishment of the Floating Beats podcast and radio show.

In 2023, Joshua further immersed himself in music production, adopting several pseudonyms to explore various dimensions of his creativity. Under the aliases K-Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand, and Joshua Onairam, he has released a multitude of tracks, each reflecting a distinct style and influence.

In January 2024, he launched JFLM Recordings to bolster his production efforts and provide a platform for his diverse creations. Through this label, Joshua remains actively engaged in the electronic music scene, offering audiences a wide array of sounds that highlight his versatility and dedication to the art form.

Floating Beats 684 takes us deeper into DJ Joshua’s sonic realm with a stunning lineup of cutting-edge tracks. Kicking off with the thunderous energy of Acitone’s “Outliers,” we’re immediately immersed in a pulsing Techno drive that sets the tone for what’s to come.

Highlights include the atmospheric textures of Anton Kubikov’s “After The Rain,” bringing a layer of Dub Techno finesse, and Vince Watson’s “Gliding,” blending melodic elements with rhythmic depth. Melodic Techno lovers will enjoy Nick Muir, John Digweed, and Captain Mustache’s remix of “Bleu Cobalt,” and the brilliant “Isla” rework by Satoshi Fumi.

The journey intensifies with heavyweight selections like DJ Soma’s “Knobs Of Life” and Jerical’s “Shock Treatment,” both reinforcing the hypnotic undercurrent of the episode. Techno heads will appreciate the raw energy of Yotam Avni’s “Move” and the immersive sound of Sikora’s “In Resonance With The Sunlight.”

DJ Joshua continues to craft late-night sessions perfect for seasoned listeners and those exploring the genre alike. Whether you’re after melodic layers, hypnotic pulses, or driving basslines, this show delivers a cohesive and powerful experience.
