Scientific Sound Asia has announced the latest playlist for DJ Joshua's radio show, Floating Beats 687. As a leading entity in the Asian electronic music landscape, Scientific Sound Asia functions as a radio station, promoter, and DJ agency, playing a vital role in the development of the electronic music community throughout Asia.

DJ Joshua, originally from Évora, Portugal, has been a significant presence in the electronic music scene since the mid-1990s. His extensive collection of digital files, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes reflects his unwavering commitment to the genre.

Throughout his career, he has excelled in a variety of styles, including Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. Despite the challenges faced by the rave scene in Portugal during the 1990s, Joshua remained resolute in his dedication to electronic music.

He devised innovative methods for producing and distributing his music, often collaborating with other artists to organise events in clubs and bars. These venues became crucial hubs for House and Techno enthusiasts, allowing him to extend his influence beyond his local area.

Following the birth of his child, Joshua scaled back his involvement in events and radio to focus on family life. However, as his daughter grew older, his passion for music was rekindled, leading to the establishment of the Floating Beats podcast and radio show.

In 2023, Joshua delved deeper into music production, adopting several pseudonyms to explore different facets of his creativity. Under the aliases K-Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand, and Joshua Onairam, he has released a plethora of tracks, each showcasing a distinct style and influence.

In January 2024, he founded JFLM Recordings to enhance his production capabilities and provide a platform for his diverse creations. Through this label, Joshua remains actively engaged in the electronic music scene, offering audiences a wide range of sounds that highlight his versatility and dedication to the art form.

Floating Beats 687 opens with upfront Tech House grooves, as EK1’s "Basic Funk" lays a punchy rhythmic foundation. Tal Fussman’s "Everybody" follows with smoother Deep House textures, and Alfonsvs pres. Rave Child’s "Dub 3720" adds a dreamy House touch with melodic flair. DJ Sneak injects a jolt of funk through his acid-tinged Jackin House cut, "A Little Acid."

Tomàn’s "Dolce Far Niente" marks a transition into the deeper end with its Minimal / Deep Tech feel, offering a more subdued groove before the set descends into darker territory. Uun’s "Sleeping Bears" begins a hypnotic run into Raw, Deep, and Hypnotic Techno, with Cari Lekebusch and Benjamin Mull reinforcing the intensity later on.

The momentum escalates with the high-impact energy of Uncertain’s "Gruuv," delivering Peak Time Techno heat. Jamie Bissmire’s "In Temporal" and DJ Bone’s "Advancing Patterns" push into raw, percussive Techno and Detroit-leaning territory, heightening the atmosphere with industrial grit and pace.

As the session winds down, Dillon Nathaniel brings back a wave of rolling Tech House energy, followed by William Kiss’s House-driven "Werkin’," closing the mix on a rhythmically charged, club-focused note. The set finishes with Raw Deep and Hypnotic Techno from the label H-Productions.

Remember to tune in to his live radio show on Monday, April 21st, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you miss it, you can listen to the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
