Scientific Sound Asia has unveiled the playlists for DJ Joshua's latest radio shows, Floating Beats and Velvety Elements. As a leading electronic music station, promoter, and DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia plays an essential role in shaping the electronic music scene across Asia, hosting events in Ho Chi Minh City and other key locations, drawing in an international audience.

Originating from Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has long been a passionate devotee of electronic music. His extensive music collection, which spans digital tracks, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes, reflects his enduring commitment to the genre.

From the outset of his career, DJ Joshua invested countless hours into honing his DJ skills, exploring a broad spectrum of genres, including Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. Despite the challenges surrounding rave music in Portugal during the 1990s, Joshua remained undeterred in his dedication to electronic music.

Even when faced with social constraints and criticism, he found creative ways to produce and distribute his music, often organising secretive gatherings with his team. These events, held in clubs and bars, featured House and Techno and attracted a dedicated following that reached beyond his local community.

After becoming a father, DJ Joshua temporarily reduced his involvement in event management and radio hosting to focus on his responsibilities as a parent. However, as his daughter grew, he rediscovered his passion for music, leading to the creation of the Floating Beats podcast and radio show. This weekly programme presents a wide variety of electronic music genres, with Joshua’s performances distinguished by seamless transitions, carefully curated selections, and a profound understanding of the emotional depth of each style.

DJ Joshua views music as a spiritual sanctuary, believing that it provides listeners with a sensory experience that transcends art. In January 2024, he expanded his creative output by launching JFLM Recordings, a label dedicated to showcasing his work and his venture into music production.

In this episode, DJ Joshua embarks on a journey through the driving rhythms of Techno and the laid-back grooves of Deep House. The first hour, Floating Beats 659, features powerful Techno tracks from artists such as Uvall, Rene Wise, and Dustin Zahn. The second hour, Velvety Elements 231, transitions into Deep House, with tracks from Christopher Rau, Dana Ruh, and Tuccillo.

Renowned for the emotional depth of his music and his unwavering commitment to the electronic music scene, DJ Joshua’s work continues to earn widespread praise.
