Scientific Sound Asia has unveiled the playlists for DJ Joshua’s latest radio shows, Floating Beats and Velvety Elements. As a prominent electronic music station, promoter, and DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia plays a pivotal role in shaping the Asian electronic music scene. It actively promotes events in Ho Chi Minh City and beyond while captivating a global audience.
Hailing from Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua is a devoted advocate of electronic music. His vast music collection, encompassing digital tracks, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes, reflects his deep dedication to the genre.
From the outset of his career, DJ Joshua invested countless hours in perfecting his DJ skills and curating a wide array of music styles, including Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. Despite the controversy surrounding rave music in Portugal during the 1990s, DJ Joshua remained steadfast in his passion for the genre.
Undeterred by societal restrictions and criticism, he continued to produce and share his music through unconventional channels and in secret locations. Working closely with his team, DJ Joshua organised House and Techno events at various clubs and bars, attracting a following that extended beyond his local community.
Following the birth of his first child, DJ Joshua scaled back his event planning and radio-hosting activities to focus on his role as a parent. However, as his daughter grew, he found renewed inspiration to reconnect with his love of music.
This resurgence led to the creation of the Floating Beats podcast and radio show, a weekly programme that presents a diverse mix of electronic music genres. The first hour, Floating Beats, showcases a variety of tracks by artists such as Ralph Laurenn, Orlando Voorn, D. Diggler, and many more providing listeners with a fresh and engaging experience.
In the second hour, Velvety Elements, DJ Joshua delves into the soulful depth of Deep House music, exploring its emotional and profound qualities. Each episode is meticulously crafted, choosing artists like Toronto Hustle, Joss Mogg, and others offering a distinct and enriching musical journey.
Known for his dynamic performances across various styles and genres, DJ Joshua has cultivated a loyal fan base. His shows are distinguished by seamless transitions, impeccable track selection, and a deep understanding of the emotions and energy that each genre evokes.
For DJ Joshua, music is more than just an art form; it is a spiritual sanctuary that captivates the senses and offers a transformative experience for those who appreciate its beauty. In January 2024, DJ Joshua expanded his creative pursuits by venturing into music production and founding JFLM Recordings, a platform dedicated to releasing his music.
