DJ Joshua has unveiled the latest playlists for his popular 'Floating Beats' and 'Velvety Elements' shows. As the leading Asian electronic music station and DJ agency, Scientific Sound Asia brings a global audience to the forefront of electronic music.
Hailing from Evora, Portugal, DJ Joshua is renowned for his extensive electronic music collection. His passion lies in amassing a diverse array of genres across various formats, including digital, vinyl, CD, and tape.
During his teenage years, Joshua immersed himself in collecting genres like Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. He dedicated countless hours to perfecting his skills as a DJ and meticulously organising his vast collection.
In the early nineties, when rave music faced significant resistance and was virtually absent from Portuguese radio, Joshua persevered to secure residencies at local stations. He successfully introduced rave culture to a broader audience.
He began hosting events at clubs and bars, gaining a solid reputation in his hometown and beyond. After becoming a father, Joshua took a hiatus from live events and radio broadcasting.
As his daughter grew older, Joshua felt inspired to return to his roots. He launched the 'Floating Beats' podcast and radio series, which has gained a loyal following on several prominent online platforms.
Not stopping there, Joshua introduced 'Velvety Elements,' a show dedicated to exploring the deeper and more soulful aspects of House music. Both shows have been broadcast internationally, including on our station, over the past two years.
Joshua believes, "Music is an art form. It’s a blend of elements that convey emotions and make the body move. It’s about sounds that can float and resonate with you."
Each week, Joshua explores a dynamic range of House Music and Techno sub-genres, including Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit Techno, Soulful House, Progressive House, and more.
