DJ Joshua, hailing from Évora, Portugal, is a well-established figure in the electronic music world. Known for his extensive music collection, Joshua is passionate about curating a diverse range of electronic genres, from digital to vinyl and everything in between. His love for electronic music began during his teenage years, and he spent countless hours collecting and organizing tracks across genres like Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout.
By the early 90s, electronic music was gaining popularity, but it was absent from Portuguese radio. Joshua's persistence led him to secure residencies on local stations, where he introduced rave music to the airwaves. His reputation grew through performances in clubs and bars, but he took a hiatus to focus on fatherhood.
Years later, Joshua returned to his musical roots, launching the Floating Beats podcast and radio series. This venture quickly gained a loyal following, establishing Joshua as a respected figure in the online electronic music scene. To complement Floating Beats, Joshua introduced Velvety Elements, a show exploring the deeper, soulful aspects of House music.
Both shows are now featured on Scientific Sound Asia, the region’s premier electronic music radio station and DJ agency, with a global audience. For the past two years, Joshua has captivated listeners with his masterful mix of House and Techno sub-genres, including Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Soulful House, Detroit Techno, Progressive House, and Vocal House.
Joshua’s approach to music reflects his deep connection to the craft: “Music is an art form. The fusion of elements can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that can float and end up falling onto your body. Enjoy it.”
