DJ Joshua, hailing from Évora, Portugal, is renowned for his extensive collection of electronic music across various formats, including digital, vinyl, CDs, and tape. His passion for genres such as Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout began in his teenage years. He dedicated countless hours to perfecting his DJ skills and organizing his vast music library.
During the 90s, DJ Joshua faced resistance to rave music in Portugal. Through determination and perseverance, he secured residencies on local radio stations, sharing his passion for rave music. He gained a strong reputation through events at clubs and bars, though he paused his career to focus on family life.
As his daughter grew older, Joshua returned to his musical roots, launching the Floating Beats podcast and radio series, which garnered a loyal following. He later introduced Velvety Elements to explore the deeper, soulful side of House music. Both shows have been broadcast globally on Scientific Sound Asia for the past two years.
Joshua’s shows feature a blend of House and Techno, including sub-genres like Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit Techno, Soulful House, Progressive House, and Vocal House. His mixes often highlight tracks from prominent artists such as Ian O'Donovan, Vince Watson, and Morgenklang.
Joshua describes his approach to music: "Music is an art form. The fusion of elements can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that can float and end up falling onto your body. Enjoy it."
