DJ Joshua has unveiled the latest playlists for his weekly Floating Beats and Velvety Elements shows, broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia, a leading electronic music station and DJ agency in Asia with a global audience.
Born and raised in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua developed a reputation as a devoted collector of electronic music. His hobby of gathering music spans multiple formats, including digital, vinyl, compact discs, and even tape.
During his early years, Joshua's collection focused on Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. He spent countless hours refining his DJ skills and organising his extensive music library. In the early 90s, when rave music was largely absent from the Portuguese airwaves, Joshua’s persistence led him to secure residencies on local radio stations, where he began sharing his passion for rave music with the public.
Joshua also performed at clubs and bars, building a strong reputation within his hometown and beyond. After the birth of his first child, he took a break from public events and radio performances. As his daughter grew, he felt drawn back to music, leading to the launch of the Floating Beats podcast and radio show. Over the years, Joshua has maintained a loyal following, continuing to broadcast his vision across multiple online platforms.
In time, Joshua created a second show, Velvety Elements, which explores the deeper and more soulful side of House music. His podcasts have been broadcast internationally on House and Techno radio stations, including Scientific Sound Asia.
For Joshua, music is an art form, capable of conveying emotions and moving listeners. His weekly shows explore a range of House and Techno sub-genres, including Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit Techno, and Soulful House.
