DJ Joshua has unveiled the latest editions of his weekly shows, Floating Beats and *Velvety Elements*. Broadcasting via Scientific Sound Asia, a prominent electronic music radio station and DJ agency with a global audience, Joshua's shows continue to captivate listeners across the region and beyond.
Born in Évora, Portugal, Joshua earned a reputation as an avid electronic music collector, amassing genres in digital formats, vinyl, compact discs, and even tapes. His early passion revolved around Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout, dedicating hours to honing his DJ skills and curating an extensive music library.
In the early 90s, rave music was scarce on Portuguese airwaves, but Joshua’s dedication paid off when he secured residencies on local radio, sharing the underground sounds of rave culture. He also made his mark in clubs and bars, establishing a solid reputation in Évora and surrounding areas.
After the birth of his daughter, Joshua took a brief hiatus from live events and radio but soon felt the pull to return to his roots. This resurgence led to the launch of the Floating Beats podcast and radio show, which has since attracted a loyal following.
Building on this success, Joshua introduced a second show, Velvety Elements, a celebration of the deeper and more soulful aspects of House music. Both shows have been featured on prominent House and Techno radio stations worldwide, including Scientific Sound Asia.
Joshua describes music as an art form capable of stirring emotions and moving the body, inviting listeners to lose themselves in his sonic explorations. His weekly shows feature a blend of House and Techno sub-genres, from Deep House to Tech House, Melodic Techno, and more.
