Scientific Sound Asia has recently launched the latest playlists for DJ Joshua's radio show, Velvety Elements, episode 256. As a significant player in the Asian electronic music industry, Scientific Sound Asia functions as a radio station, promoter, and DJ agency, contributing substantially to the growth of the electronic music community across Asia.

Hailing from Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has made a notable impact in the electronic music scene, with a career defined by dedication, perseverance, and an ever-expanding repertoire of genres. His extensive collection of digital files, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes exemplifies his unwavering commitment to electronic music, allowing him to explore a diverse array of sounds.

Throughout his career, while achieving recognition in various genres such as Techno, Drum and Bass, and Chillout, House music has consistently remained at the heart of his artistic identity. During the 1990s, when the rave scene in Portugal faced challenges, Joshua remained steadfast, discovering innovative ways to share and distribute his music.

By collaborating with fellow artists and organising events in clubs and bars, he created spaces for House and Techno enthusiasts to connect, significantly broadening his influence beyond his local community. After taking a break to focus on his family following the birth of his child, Joshua reignited his passion for DJing as his daughter grew, leading to the creation of the Floating Beats radio show.

Floating Beats provided him with a platform to delve into a wide spectrum of electronic music, seamlessly blending progressive, melodic, and deeper techno-infused sounds. Nevertheless, his enduring passion for House music inspired him to establish a second show: Velvety Elements.

Velvety Elements allows DJ Joshua to explore the more subtle and refined aspects of House music, merging warm rhythms, soulful melodies, and intricate layering to create an elegant listening experience. The show features deep, smooth, and emotionally resonant tracks, designed to immerse listeners in a luxurious and sophisticated atmosphere, showcasing his precision as a selector and his intuitive ability to harmonise melodies.

By adopting various aliases, including K-Joshua, Joshua Marian, Joshua Fernand, and Joshua Onairam, he has broadened his creative horizons by exploring different styles of House music. In January 2024, he founded JFLM Recordings, a label aimed at showcasing his production work and providing a platform for his artistic vision. Velvety Elements represents another chapter in his ongoing musical journey, guiding listeners through a refined exploration of House music’s most sophisticated and enchanting sounds.

Velvety Elements 256 opens with Gavinco’s smooth and jazzy “Creative Times,” setting the mood with a laid-back yet soulful Deep House groove. Borrowed Identity’s “Faith” gets a fresh twist with Thomas Stieler’s ID remix, creating subtle momentum early in the mix.

Alfredo Ávila’s “Sincerous Nothing” and Manuel Kane’s “Ravers In The Crowd” continue the journey through sultry late-night rhythms. Kristy Harper’s “Blissful Denial” and her remix of Andy Ash’s “Still Working” showcase a raw, expressive sound that defines this episode’s flow.

Midway, Demuir's “Legend” brings in a taste of Jackin House, adding a touch of funk and rhythmic punch. Franck Roger’s “The Drift” and Shur-I-Kan’s “Bubblin Up” pull things into a deeper, warmer space with rich textures and classic House energy.

Closing with The Checkup’s “Don’t Stop” and Milton Jackson’s emotive “Remember,” DJ Joshua rounds off the set with timeless vibes and immersive grooves. Velvety Elements 256 is a must for Deep House lovers craving both modern and classic influences.

Don't forget to listen to his live radio show on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you miss it, the replay will be available on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
