Interview Guest: Scram Jones.

Scram Jones is a triple threat in hip-hop, an elite producer, DJ, and emcee, whose impact on the genre spans over two decades. Hailing from New Rochelle, New York, he has carved out a reputation as one of the most versatile and consistent talents in the industry. Whether crafting hard-hitting beats for some of rap’s biggest legends, rocking crowds as a DJ, or delivering sharp rhymes on the mic, Scram Jones embodies the essence of hip-hop in its purest form.

Scram’s journey began as a battle rapper, gaining recognition for his clever wordplay and commanding presence. However, it was his production skills that truly set him apart. With a keen ear for gritty, soulful samples and thunderous drum patterns, he quickly became a sought-after beatmaker. His production credits include work with Nas, Raekwon, Jadakiss, Styles P, Cam’ron, Lloyd Banks, Dipset, and Ghostface Killah, among others. His ability to craft cinematic, street-wise sounds has made him a go-to producer for artists looking to capture the raw energy of classic New York hip-hop.

One of his standout production moments came with "Letter to B.I.G." by Jadakiss featuring Faith Evans, a heartfelt tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. that resonated deeply with fans and critics alike. Scram’s knack for creating beats that complement an artist’s storytelling ability has made him one of the most respected behind-the-scenes figures in the game.

Beyond production, Scram Jones is also a world-class DJ. His ability to seamlessly mix classic hip-hop with newer sounds has earned him residencies at top venues and performances alongside some of the biggest names in music. Whether rocking a festival stage, club, or radio show, his sets showcase an encyclopedic knowledge of hip-hop, combined with the technical finesse of a true turntablist. His radio work on Hot 97 and appearances on various platforms have further cemented his reputation as a tastemaker in the industry.

As an emcee, Scram Jones has always been a formidable lyricist. Though many know him for his production and DJing, his work on the mic has been equally impressive. His mixtapes, including "Dead Giveaway" and "The Hat Trick", highlight his witty punchlines, effortless flow, and ability to go bar-for-bar with some of the best in the game. He has maintained his underground credibility while continuing to push boundaries in every aspect of his career.

Scram’s longevity in hip-hop is a testament to his adaptability and dedication to the craft. While many artists and producers fade with trends, he has remained relevant, consistently delivering high-quality beats, sharp lyricism, and unforgettable DJ sets. His ability to seamlessly switch between roles has earned him the respect of industry veterans and new-school artists alike.

Whether behind the boards, on the decks, or in the booth, Scram Jones is a true embodiment of hip-hop culture, continuously proving why he’s one of the most respected and versatile figures in the game. For fans of authentic, no-compromise hip-hop, his contributions are impossible to overlook, and his legacy only continues to grow.
