DJ Psycho (Second hour), a hip hop turntablist from East London and an original mad nutta, received his first set of decks when he was just 14 years old. Since then, he has been delivering excellent beats. Coming of age during the Golden Age of Hip Hop, his innovative performances are inspired by musicians like Public Enemy, KRS1, Run DMC, and the Beastie Boys, which he skillfully mixes with Jungle, DnB, reggae, and various other dance music styles.

Starting his career as a DJ in the underground squat parties of 1990s London during the Acid House and Hard-Core era, he joined forces with the renowned Production House Records collective, alongside artists such as DMS, The House Crew, and X-Static. Known for his relentless determination, DJ Psycho was inspired by the raw and edgy music scenes of London in the 90s and early 2000s, shaping his unique style characterized by dark and gritty tones, heavy basslines, energetic beats, and funky rhythms.

His unique style quickly led to him securing regular slots on prominent pirate radio stations in London like AXE FM and Fantasy FM, as well as performing at popular venues in the city such as Scala, Bagley’s Film Studios, 491 Gallery, 291 Gallery, and 333.

Representing the belief that 'music is my sanctuary, music is my life', DJ Psycho has traveled around the globe with his diverse assortment of grooves, loops, riffs, and beats, performing in countries ranging from the UK and the West ndies to Australia and Vietnam. Infusing the dancefloor with an unparalleled, unrefined energy, DJ Psycho caters to those who appreciate a more sophisticated musical experience, ensuring that the party always kicks off on the right note.

Currently taking refuge and keeping a low profile in the vibrant city of Saigon, DJ Psycho Founded a DJ agency, promotions, and event management company Scientific Sound Asia in 2013, bringing international DJs and acts to the South East Asian region. The agency also runs an English language underground radio station (this station) playing up-funked dance music and hosting slots for international groove maestros.

When DJ Psycho is not on the decks, he performs under the name Tariq Azam. Enjoy his show, which premiered on our radio station on Tuesday, November 19th. You can listen to the show using the Mixcloud player below.
