DJ Joshua, a respected Portuguese DJ hailing from Évora, is deeply passionate about electronic dance music. His extensive collection includes a wide range of formats, from digital tracks and vinyl records to CDs and cassettes, showcasing his love for genres like Deep House, Techno, Progressive House, and more.
Throughout his early years, DJ Joshua invested countless hours perfecting his DJ skills and curating a diverse library of music that spans deep house, techno, drum and bass, and chillout. During the 1990s, Portugal experienced cultural resistance to the emerging rave and underground music scenes, with genres like techno and electronic dance music facing significant societal challenges.
Undeterred, DJ Joshua remained devoted to electronic music, sharing his work through underground channels and organising events at clubs and bars. His efforts helped shape the local scene, drawing in audiences from various cities and contributing to the growth of house music and techno in Portugal.
Following the birth of his first child, DJ Joshua took a step back from event planning and radio hosting to focus on his family. However, his daughter’s growth reignited his passion for music, leading him to create the Floating Beats podcast and radio show. This weekly programme features an eclectic mix of electronic music genres, offering listeners a captivating and immersive experience. The first hour of Floating Beats showcases a diverse selection of tracks, blending different styles to create a unique sonic journey.
In the second hour, DJ Joshua explores the soulful and melodic aspects of house music with Velvety Elements. This segment delves into the emotional depth of deep house and melodic techno, presenting a carefully curated selection of tracks that highlight the genre’s intricate qualities.
