Scientific Sound Asia has just released the latest playlists for DJ Joshua’s popular shows, Floating Beats and Velvety Elements. DJ Joshua, a well-respected Portuguese DJ from Évora, is renowned for his deep dedication to electronic music. His impressive collection spans digital tracks, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes, reflecting his passion for various genres, including techno, house, and more.
In his early years, DJ Joshua invested significant effort into developing his DJ skills and curating a diverse music library that features techno, house, drum and bass, and chillout. During the 1990s, Portugal saw resistance to the emerging rave scene, with techno and electronic music facing notable societal opposition.
Despite these challenges, DJ Joshua remained committed to electronic music. He continued to share his work through underground and unconventional methods and played a vital role in organising techno and house music events at local clubs and bars. His efforts made a substantial impact, attracting audiences from different cities.
After the birth of his first child, DJ Joshua took a break from event planning and radio hosting to focus on his family. However, his daughter’s growth reignited his love for music, leading him to launch the Floating Beats podcast and radio show. This weekly programme showcases a diverse range of electronic music genres, offering a dynamic listening experience. The first hour of Floating Beats features a captivating mix of tracks.
In the second hour, DJ Joshua explores the soulful aspects of house music with Velvety Elements. This segment highlights the emotional depth of deep house music, presenting a carefully curated selection of tracks that showcase the genre’s unique qualities.
