Scientific Sound Asia has rolled out the newest playlists for DJ Joshua’s signature shows, Floating Beats and Velvety Elements. As a leading figure in the Asian electronic music scene, Scientific Sound Asia serves as a prominent radio station, promoter, and DJ agency, driving techno and house music events in Ho Chi Minh City and globally.
DJ Joshua, a distinguished Portuguese DJ from Évora, is celebrated for his unwavering commitment to electronic music. His expansive collection spans digital tracks, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes, demonstrating his passion for a wide range of genres, including techno, house, and more.
During his formative years, DJ Joshua dedicated himself to refining his DJ skills and curating a diverse music library that includes techno, house, drum and bass, and chillout. In the 1990s, Portugal witnessed cultural pushback against the rising rave scene, with techno and other electronic genres facing significant societal resistance.
Despite these challenges, DJ Joshua remained steadfast in his dedication to electronic music. He continued to produce and share his work through underground channels, organising techno and house music events at various clubs and bars. His efforts significantly impacted the local scene, drawing audiences from across different cities.
After welcoming his first child, DJ Joshua took a step back from event planning and radio hosting to focus on family life. However, his daughter’s growth reignited his passion for music, leading him to launch the Floating Beats podcast and radio show. This weekly programme presents a diverse mix of electronic music genres, offering listeners a dynamic and immersive experience. The first hour of Floating Beats features an eclectic selection of tracks.
In the second hour, DJ Joshua delves into the soulful side of house music with Velvety Elements. This segment explores the emotional depth and complexity of deep house music, delivering a carefully curated selection of tracks that highlight the genre’s distinctive qualities.
