DJ Joshua, a renowned Portuguese DJ from Évora, showcases his profound passion for electronic music through an extensive collection that spans digital tracks, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes. His dedication to the genre is evident in his broad music library.
During his formative years, DJ Joshua devoted significant time to refining his DJ skills and assembling a varied music collection, including genres like techno, house, drum and bass, and chillout. In the 1990s, Portugal grappled with resistance to the emerging rave music scene, with techno and electronic genres facing considerable societal opposition.
Despite these challenges, DJ Joshua remained committed to the genre. He persisted in producing and sharing his music through unconventional and underground channels. He played a crucial role in organising techno and house music events at local clubs and bars, making a notable impact and attracting audiences from various cities.
After becoming a father, DJ Joshua took a break from event planning and radio hosting to focus on his family. However, his daughter’s growth inspired him to reconnect with his musical roots. This led to the creation of the Floating Beats podcast and radio show, which offers a diverse selection of electronic music genres. The first hour of Floating Beats delivers an engaging and varied mix of tracks.
In the second hour, DJ Joshua delves into the soulful and profound aspects of house music with his show Velvety Elements. This segment focuses on deep house music, offering a captivating exploration of its emotional depth.
