Scientific Sound Asia has released the latest playlists for DJ Joshua’s acclaimed radio shows, Floating Beats and Velvety Elements. As a major player in the Asian electronic music scene, Scientific Sound Asia serves as a leading promoter, electronic music station, and DJ agency, championing techno and house music events across Ho Chi Minh City and beyond, and boasting a substantial global audience.
DJ Joshua, a distinguished Portuguese DJ from Évora, is renowned for his dedication to electronic music. His extensive library encompasses a wide range of formats, including digital tracks, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes, showcasing his deep commitment to the genre.
In his formative years, DJ Joshua invested countless hours in perfecting his skills and assembling a diverse collection of music, spanning genres such as techno, house, drum and bass, and chillout. During the 1990s, Portugal faced cultural resistance to the rising rave music scene, with techno and other electronic genres encountering significant opposition.
Undeterred by societal constraints and bans, DJ Joshua continued to produce and share his music through innovative and underground methods. He organised a variety of techno and house music events in clubs and bars, making a significant impact locally and attracting a diverse audience from different cities.
Following the birth of his first child, DJ Joshua took a step back from organising events and radio hosting to focus on his family. However, his daughter’s growth reignited his passion for electronic music, leading him to launch the Floating Beats podcast and radio show. This weekly programme offers a curated selection of electronic music, delivering an immersive and engaging experience to listeners. The first hour of Floating Beats features a wide array of tracks, ensuring a captivating experience.
In the second hour, DJ Joshua explores the deeper, soulful aspects of house music with his show Velvety Elements. This segment delves into the rich emotional layers of deep house music, providing a distinctive and enriching musical journey. Each episode of Velvety Elements is crafted to highlight the genre’s profound and soulful qualities.
