Scientific Sound Asia has unveiled the newest playlists for DJ Joshua’s renowned shows, Floating Beats and Velvety Elements. DJ Joshua, a distinguished Portuguese DJ from Évora, is celebrated for his dedication to electronic music. His extensive collection spans a range of formats, including digital tracks, vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes, showcasing his passion for genres like techno, house, and more.
Throughout his early years, DJ Joshua focused on refining his skills and building a diverse music library that features techno, house, drum and bass, and chillout. During the 1990s, Portugal experienced cultural resistance to the burgeoning rave scene, with techno and electronic genres facing significant societal challenges.
Despite these hurdles, DJ Joshua remained steadfast in his commitment to electronic music. He continued to share his work through innovative and underground channels, organising techno and house music events in clubs and bars. His efforts made a substantial impact, attracting audiences from various cities and regions.
After becoming a father, DJ Joshua took a hiatus from event planning and radio hosting to prioritise family life. However, his daughter’s growth reignited his passion for music, leading him to create the Floating Beats podcast and radio show. This weekly programme features a wide array of electronic music genres, offering an engaging and dynamic listening experience. The first hour of Floating Beats delivers a fresh mix of tracks, showcasing various styles.
In the second hour, DJ Joshua delves into the soulful dimensions of house music with Velvety Elements. This segment explores the emotional depth of deep house music, presenting a curated selection of tracks that highlight the genre’s intricate qualities.
