Yushka releases playlist for upcoming Funk 6 show.

Yushka performing as a DJ at an event.

Yushka has unveiled the lineup for his upcoming show on Scientific Sound Asia Radio. The leading platform for underground electronic music, DJ representation, and event promotion in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Vietnam, and Southeast Asia.

Originally from Nottingham, UK, Yushka has honed his DJing skills at various free parties, raves, festivals, and club nights across the UK, Ireland, and more recently Vietnam since the mid-2000s. He was a key member of Nottingham's What The Funk? DJ group and the mastermind behind Nottingham's Shits and Giggles and Hot-Point Sound Systems.

During his teenage years, he had a strong passion for understanding the structure of music and enjoyed creating mix tapes. Initially lacking the funds for DJ equipment, he utilized basic software and a CD recorder to produce mixes that he shared with his schoolmates. This initiative earned him recognition as a DJ among his peers.

Fast forward to 2004, when, at the young age of 22, he had the opportunity to showcase his DJ skills on professional equipment for the first time. By 2006, he was regularly performing at trendy bars and nightclubs in Nottingham as part of the underground scene, alongside co-host and founder Animinimal (Deck-starter/Catalyst).

As their events gained momentum, it became necessary to enhance the inadequate PA systems of the venues by introducing their own sound system. This gave rise to the Sh!ts and G!ggles sound system.

It quickly became popular; and after a long time spent listening to music with the now famous Matty C (Hanoi Hi-Fi), the Hotpoint Sound System of Nottingham was established. This resulted in various underground free events and partnerships with Promoters throughout the East Midlands, including Substance D&B, Pure Filth, TSA303, Monkey Nuts, and Psycle, which then led to the creation of the renowned multi-genre nights and events that Hotpoint and S&G were recognized for.

He has performed as a supporting act for the Drum and Bass legends EZ Rollers and Kenny Ken and has showcased his talent at various venues in Vietnam including Sidewalk Hanoi - Bar / Kitchen / Events (Hanoi), Broma: Not a Bar, Arcan, and Bann Bar (HCMC). Expect a diverse range of music genres such as Chilled Laid Back Beats, Breaks, Hip Hop, Electro, Tech, D&B, all infused with a touch of Funk and Soul.

Having become a regular performer at Sunday Funk Sessions at Arcan in Ho Chi Minh City, he is set to make more appearances throughout 2019. This episode was first broadcasted on Friday, August 9th. Feel free to listen to the Mixcloud player provided below.
